Thank you!

Still 2/5/26

Well, today was a great day. Bench PR. Fast and fantastic, although cold, walk with my birthday twin. Rock climbing followed by lunch with my youngest (the oldest opted to go to school. Ouch). This evening my husband took me out to eat and provided me with cheesecake for dessert. I’m honestly not sure if I could have asked for a better day.

A note on the rock climbing. By the end of our time my forearms and fingers were absolutely cooked. I’m surprised that I could even hold the steering wheel to drive home. Also, every single time we go I have a little tiny heart attack the first 3-4 times that I jump off the wall. I’m super afraid of heights and although I know that the auto belay will lower me safely it’s still all I can do to let go. By the end I’m usually pretty good and I just enjoy the ride down. But holy guacamole, the first few times are a serious cardio workout for me.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. They brightened up an already wonderful day.

Today will be a rest and reset day for me. Yesterday was fantastic, but I ate like a fat kid. Lol. Today is back to tracking and keeping it within reason. I most likely won’t get a walk in either. My massage is pretty close after work so I probably won’t have time to squeeze one in and there is a 0% chance I’m doing anything after my massage. So today will be slug level activity with good nutrition. Yesterday was good activity with poor nutrition. Tomorrow I will attempt the best of both worlds.

I almost asked whether you’d be up to it after your workout, but then decided that it would be a giant buzzkill thing to say.

I think your plan for today is a really good one.

Last I time I checked, everything is calorie free in your birthday.

I think the thing I OD’ed on the worst was sodium. I ate out twice yesterday. Lol. I’m a big old ball of fluid today.

Well, I had the date of my massage wrong. It’s not until NEXT Friday. The deviation is real.:pleading_face: So instead I did this.

I’ve been lifting fasted for several days now. I think I’m going to stick with that. I’m feeling good throughout the work and I can get into the gym faster if I’m not wasting time messing with food.
I finally got rid of the cement in my back so I’m feeling way better. I think I can make it through one more cycle. I was going to bail, but then I looked at what I will be lifting on week 3 of the next cycle and I really want to hit those numbers.
My weight is an issue. That is one of the reasons that I wanted to bail on my current plan. But the smarter choice is to be more conscious of my food. Clean that up. I’m working on it.

Same. It feels like it takes so much more time and effort to get the food in prior. I’m sure you saw @T3hPwnisher’s post in response to my concern that I was being suboptimal by fasting (though I have milk in my coffee, so it’s not an actual official fasted state). It helped me to realize that elite athletes like you and me can get by with it.

Fasted morning training just makes so much more sense to me on a biological/ancestral level. We wake up because cortisol elevates. It elevates because it wants us to act. Specifically: go get food. Well, the GETTING of the food WAS action. We either had to hunt for it or gather it, but either way: it wasn’t just sitting there ready for us. We wake up, go do the activity, THEN we eat, and then we lower our cortisol.

Hell yeah! 95x4 is getting to some big girl numbers! Ik with the Mrs, she didn’t really care about bench at all, UNTIL she started pushing 95 for some solid reps, and then started thinking “I bet I can get to a plate” and now she’s all in on bench. (And Incidentally, got her 135 bench)

We really want to get more into rock climbing, but I am worried I’m just too damn heavy for it! Working on the de-fatification process right now, but it’s still a journey lol. I think it’s so cool you do it with the fam!

This was a nice enough walk. The only downside is that I live in the middle of a wind tunnel which makes it pretty cold sometimes. I forgot how much better I feel when I walk. Hopefully the stupid cold is on its way out and I can walk comfortably again. Until it gets hot. Then I will complain about walking in the heat.
Played cards with the family. I lost. But my husband didn’t win, so that’s the same as a victory in my book.
On a completely unrelated and random note, my eyelid has been twitching for 3 days. It’s driving me mad.
