Olympic Lifting

Hey everyone I am beginning to make the switch from powerlifting to olympic lifting. I love my converse all-stars for powerlifting, but I understand I need the correct shoes for olympic lifting. The only places I have seen them on sale is the US lifting team’s website and on Dynamic Fitness, both of which are really pricy for a poor student. If anyone knows a good place to go to get some new kicks it would be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes with your training.

Good shoes cost a few bucks, that’s for sure. If you order from Dynamic, ask Bud about the Bulgarian shoes. They are a little wider than other lifting shoes, and generally, provide a better fit.

You mentioned you are switching from powerlifting.

I hope you are working directly with an Olympic Lifting coach. Coaching is a must to learn these two lifts.

Weightlifting shoes do tend to be expensive, especially Adidas models.

One consolation is that, with proper care, weightlifting shoes should last a long time. Unlike running shoes they do not wear out in three months of hard training. I have a pair that I used continuously for 10 years and still today, now 13 years later, use from time to time when my newer pair are not handy. The only difference between the two pairs is that the newer one looks better.
