Mr. Olympia 2013 - Branch Warren.
Mr. Olympia 2013 - Hidetada Yamagashi
Lol I don’t think he’s even qualified is he? Come on now bro, seriously…
The moer I think about Kai Greene and Lady Gaga should do a music video together.
Okay, then, seriously, Mr. Olympia 2013 - Toney Freeman

Honest question. What do you find so appealing about Branch? Because I simply do not see it. I think he has a terrible structure and is just over unappealing. I really struggle seeing why people love him so much.

why not make him the face of it — the whole sport is a freak show anyways. it’s not a sport. lebron could have a tutu on and a bullwhip hanging out his ass on a Wednesday and still score 50 the next night, sore ass and all. that fashion/art/whatever shouldn’t make a fucking difference, i get why it does, we don’t need to turn this into a “face of the sport” speech…
this is not a sport because it is FIXED, predetermined 95%. if phil totally shits the bed then the powers that be have different WWE scripts written to determine how to pitch and sell and alternate story but overall it’s a fix.
let leather boy win if he looks the fucking best - whomever looks the best on the day should win…then it’s a sport, otherwise for 364 days a year it is sport but on the magic day in September it is a pageant. [/quote]
Do you have any evidence to back that up other than just your layman opinion about placings in the past?
Serious question. I’m neutral about the issue. However, I thought what Jay said in the vid I posted some pages ago about real-world judging vs judging via pictures/vids was interesting. Perhaps Stu can chime in since he is a judge himself.

I don’t love Branch personally. I was basically trolling because there is so much up in the air as to who could be the winner this year. In my opinion (and it isn’t worth what it cost to put these words on your screen - ie fractions of a penny), he’ll be lucky to legitimately make top 10. What will save him is politics, sponsorship, and his conditioning.
I think Wolf should have beat him at the AC and placed higher than him at the O last year. He is more aesthetic, holds more mass, and was in great condition. Even the crowd was pissed at placings for Wolf below Branch.
I think Branch is a cool personality, but I also believe his little “I love Jesus” speel is a bunch of malarky. He’s into the Dark Side as much as anyone else, and I doubt Jesus is anywhere on his mind.

I’ll root for him but I obviously know that he’ll never be mr olymipa or anything like that…
I just like how hardcore he is with his workouts and such especially legs. He’s just a freak

it’s just an educated guess. the truth is, revenue is generated by magazine and supplement sales, the guy that wins, it’s heavily weighed/swayed by how much revenue (buzz), positive PR they can bring the sport, the magazines, the promoters. in the land of bodybuilding’s grassy fields – the cash cow is king.
phil is pretty, phil is as normative as it gets, as is jay…while most don’t want to be as big- they represent the dream: nice house, nice whip, prosperity in a true vanilla sense. BB is fringe so they look for spokesperson that can swing it back to middle ground.
What’s a whip?
I’ll also add that IFBB judges on another forum have admitted that specific people will get “another look” from judges based on who they work with, who they know, etc. It may not be as prevalent as the “big show” but it does happen at state, regional, and qualifiers. There have been plenty of cases where some of the female competitors change coaches and even showing up in similar condition, place lower.
Welcome to the subjectivity and demons of a system that has no set criteria.

He’s probably the single most overrated bodybuilder currently competing at the O level.
Terrible genetics, poor symmetry, undersized. All he really has IMO is great conditioning.
Seriously though, Mr. Olympia 2013 - Victor Martinez. To be awarded posthumously.
Supposedly Victor was looking pretty awesome at the 4-5 weeks out mark. There are just so many quality guys this year that you honestly forget all of the names when you list them.
I could see Dex out of top 6 easily. And guys usually in the top 6 competing to stay top 10. Guys who would normally be top 10, not even making it to the final posedown. Its going to be a rough year for some folks. On the positive, it’ll make the qualifiers next year that much more exciting!
I have always beeen a fan of victor
he has everything phil heath has (full muscle belly ect) but with broader shoulders and better x frame
Victor just didnt look the same to me at the toronto pro super show. Even if hes managed to add noticeably more size since then, his proportions and shape just looked…different. Not as aesthetically pleasing as he did before his lockup. I cant see him making top 6 this year. Maybe for 2014 he’ll be back in it.
Yea, I wouldn’t put him as top contender. I’d put him in the battle for top 10… group is too stacked for top 5 challenge and he’ll need a bit more time to get back into it full-swing. He isn’t worried about it though, just progressing in a very laid-back fashion.
