I could sincerely see it happening, if not like last year, maybe a little less so. When folks are super competitive they are going to try and get every inch advantage they can (literally). The competition this year will be more intense than last year. Unless Kai comes in off, Rammy not properly conditioned and Jay clearly smaller (let alone other possibles) Phil will most likely inch forward.
The most annoying part is last year the guys didn’t get busted until Kai went out to compete with him. I hope this year they don’t pull that crap. I won’t claim that its what gave him last year, as I still believe it was incredibly close, but the moment someone inches forward (there is a line there) they should be reprimanded, doing it again is warned, and a third time they are given a timeout, off stage. I’d say that embarassment would knock the shit off real quick.
Damn Jay is getting no love on this last page. Honestly Jay does not look bad at all. And considering how many times he has done this I would not be surprised if he brought a competitive package to the O. I am not saying he will bring the best package but I am confidant he can place top three. I have been following Jays video blogs as the O approaches and from the start he felt very confidant about being able to grow into the show and bring his best.
Ramy is very impressive looking but Marzouk your bias is obvious. I do not think it is accurate to compare two individuals physiques if the the physiques you are comparing are from two separate photos set on two different stages. Honestly we will have to wait until Ramy is on stage neck to neck with the top tier competitors just as Stu stated earlier.
I am very conflicted this year because I have been rooting for Kai for years now but I love a comeback story and if Jay were to win that would be an impressive comeback. Plus I have grown to love the guys personality after watching all his video blogs. Some call him boring but I call him calm and collected. Regardless this is going to be an exciting O this year.
Here is the most recent pic I could find of Jay. Its about two or two and a half months old.
Am not going to predict placings, but just want to comment on the ‘ifs’ for some of the guys:
Jay - Needs to dominate Phil with size or he won’t beat Phil. '09’s 255lbs isn’t gonna do it with Phil at the size he is now. Likely needs to be mid-260s.
Phil - One of the few people with huge potential who is actually living up to it. In the upper body at least, his muscle-mass per inch of bone is ahead of anyone at the moment. Just thick round muscle packed all over him. The only area he could pack more muscle on is his quads - he doesn’t have those cross striations others in the top line up do.
Kai - Ahead of Phil on legs but needs to be thicker up top, especially in the chest and traps. Standing next to Phil, it seems like these elements which make him look smaller. Obviously needs to do this while still being shredded.
Victor - Most cursed man in bodybuilding but also some of the best genetics. Only one who can match Phil on muscle shape while he has those great wide clavicles Phil lacks. If he comes as full as 2011 Olympia but as shredded as this year’s NY Pro he could take it home. Knowing him though he will be hit by a bus on the way to the show or something.
Rhoden - I don’t think he’s ready to threaten for the top spot yet. Great lines but needs more upper body mass period. But, obviously, a lot can happen in a year.
Big Ramy - Where the fuck did this guy come from? I bet that’s what Victor Martinez was thinking at the NY Pro. Obviously, just fucking unbelievabley huge but with a tight midsection. He brings a lot to the table. Quads are insane; huge delts. Maybe needs more thickness in the chest and detail in the back, but I’d say top five is far from out of the question this year.
This seems like it will be the most competitive Mr. Olympia contest in a long time. We have three former Mr. Olympias and how many guys who have been top 3 at least once? Jay, Phil, Kai, Victor, Rhoden, Dexter Jackson, Branch Warren - have I missed anyone? Awesome.
Another forum has spread rumors that Ramy was some sort of science/comic book project where someone designed his “optimum” physique and then an expert injected synth to help him grow to those proportions. Supposedly they tried this on another guy from the same region but didn’t pan out.
Someone claimed that during one of Ramy’s first contests you could actually see the oil bulges in his muscles, but I haven’t personally seen the picture.
I said this somewhere else, but I’ll say it there. If Jay comes in on, they’ll gift him top 3 even though he should probably only be top 6. If he comes in off, they’ll gift him top 6 even though he should be around top 10.
Phil isn’t showing anything, the other pro’s are. He will get shock just from that alone as no one knows what to expect.
Ramy apparently signed with a company this past week.

Dennis Wolf, Cedric McMillan.
[/quote]
The ‘have I missed anyone’ question was about guys who have been top 3 at the Olympia who are going to the contest - neither of those guys fit the bill. In any case - Wolf has one of the best bone structures ever and great delts and overall size but hasn’t yet shown the completeness needed to threaten for the top spot. And Cedric McMillan - everyone keeps talking about his potential, and it’s there, but what is he doing about it? It’s difficult to stay excited about what this guy might do one day when you’ve got guys like Rami and Phil Heath out there getting it done.
Why the hell isn’t Hollywood throwing millions of dollars at him to play bit roles as kick-ass villain types? He would be perfect for all these Marvel comic movies. Or that Hercules movie coming out next summer starring The Rock. Just put him in some 6" motorcycle boots with no shirt and a fucking battle axe. The dude won’t need any acting classes. The director will just tell him to do “explosive high rep wood-chops” with the Battle axe…

I can tell you if I was a big time action director I would definitely be scouting these bodybuilders. Why pay Jason Mamoa, who has to spend time struggling to get huge, when I could get one of these already enormous behemoths to play the same role for a fraction of the salary I’m paying Mamoa. I’m sorry, no one is going to watch a Conan the Barbarian re-make for Jason Mamoa, they’re paying to see Conan the character do all the bad-ass stuff he does. You’re right, most of these action/comic book films don’t require Thespians at all. You’d want someone comfortable in front of the camera like Arnold was (is), and most of these bodybuilders would have no problem with playing for the camera just because they’re used to attention. They pose in front of audiences constantly. Also, guys like Kai are naturals in those video blogs they record.
I’m not a Hollywood expert or anything but I’ll guess the relationship between high profile agents and the production studios plays a big part in casting choices.

Exactly, how much fucking cooler would Bane have been if he was Ramy?
The answer to your question, is people don’t really want to see people that are that big. Yea, Dwayne Johnson is a big dude, but he’s more aesthetic and looks “functional” with his mass. These guys don’t, whether they can move and are flexible or not.
Mamao, Cavill, and others are marketable because they are attractive physiques. Men want to look like them and women find them sexy. They also have proven track records. As sad as it is to say, the days of Arnold/Stallone action movies are over - save Expendables.
I honestly wouldn’t want to watch a Jay Cutler action movie. I think his personality is pretty dull. In fact, there aren’t really any personalities in bodybuilding that make me say, wow I bet they’d be awesome in an actor’s role. Just my .02.

It is because people do not want to see ugly people on screen.

Exactly. I mean, it’s a proven fucking formula. Look at Arnold. Reeves. Stallone. The Rock. Etc. Those guys are not Daniel Day Lewis when it comes to acting. They dominate the valuable male 18-54 age bracket for one reason: The kick ass and the look good doing it (due to their physique). The bigger, more muscular, the better. Men (AND Women) want our heros TO ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE FUCKING HEROS!!
Sure WWF Made The Rock famous. But I bet there could be another Arnold that can be a big movie star. A Tall Bodybuilder with good looks and chrisma can do it.
And like you said. They would work for a whole lot less.

But they would be perfect for kick ass villains in comic-book movies.
They also need to be charismatic and at least somewhat camera friendly. Most of the bodybuilders have a hard time talking, aren’t attractive, and lack that energy. As small as Bane was in the new movie, even for never seeing his mouth, he was able to portray the role well with his posture, manneurisms, and facial expressions. These bodybuilders lack that - Arnold at least had energy and charisma.
I’d like to see more “big” actors like Dwayne, but there aren’t any up-and-comers that have that kind of size and ability. Best bet is to find talent and then “grow” it for a movie. After the cycle/movie is over, they shrink back to normal size. Steroids are a perfect tool for getting someone into “movie form” because its fast-acting and if they want to return to normal size after, they stop eating so much and change their PCT.

As unbelievable impressive as he is…when he stands next to Kai and Phil he will seem less symmetrical. His quads overshadow just a bit. His chest is not completely up to par and his traps too, are lacking just a wee bit. I am nit picking of course but his hams and calves could use some work. As do his forearms.
Kai will expose his lack of muscle separation and Heath’s symmetry will be too hard to beat. Both Kai and Phil will come in massive as well. North of 250 for sure. Kai might be 265 when it is all said and done.
I could see him cracking top 6, maybe even 3rd because he is so imposing but it will be between Kai and Phil…
