Oly and power lifts

I don’t have access to anyone that can teach me oly lifts. Is there any way I can learn them on my own (website, books, video, etc) and how would I implement them as a beginner in those lifts? was thinking of using a power phase (inspired by CT’s program).

I’d recommend learning the power versions and doing them from the hang. For someone that doesn’t have a coach to teach them, or someone that is not going to be competing in Olympic lifting, the power versions done from the hang position will be most beneficial, and much easier to learn.

I know there are websites that have videos showing how they are done. In addition, there are various books that describe the movements. Not only that, but many of the articles on T-mag have photos and descriptions (check out some of CT’s, Coach D’s and Alessi’s articles) of the O-lifts.

Remember that it’s all about acceleration. You don’t need a lot of weight when learning the lifts. You can start out using the bar and work your way up.

Ian has some oly and power lift videos.

Thanks Nate, I’ll check out the previous articles. I also just remembered that I have Charles Staley’s Martial arts training book, which if I remember, has some of the power movements, and done from the hang (haven’t been home in a while, should be there). Thanks and I’ll start with just the bar.

MN, I’m shooting over to that website now, thanks.
