A lot of the workouts you find on t-mag often feature things like power-cleans, snatches, push presses and various other complicated lifts.
I’d love to incorporate some of these into my workouts, but how do learn them?

Unless youre a person with incredable proprioception, a coach or someone who can show is the way to go.
learned it the hard way myself and seen it time and time again.
I think you can teach yourself push presses. For the Olys and their power and hang variations that are often recommended here, some will say you can progress into teaching yourself starting with dumbells or kettlebells. I think a coach to teach proper form for these is a better investment than Surge, MAG-10, a food scale, or a blender.
I taught myself the olympic lifts by watching videos over and over of people performing them and reading techniques in proper execution. I wouldn’t say it’s too difficult, but it certainly takes practice. When you do them right, they feel way cool (especially the power snatch).
I’m with Macaijah, IMHO too many people shy away from doing OL variants especially from the hang as they don’t have a coach, I think that is a mistake. CT has written a number of detailed articles on t-mag and it would also pay to check out vids by Cool Col J on CT’s Lair. You can also find formal instruction on a number of sites like exrx.net.
Thanks guys, I’m going to try and get someone to teach them to me. Trouble is, all the guys that work at the gym are bodybuilders, so I’m not sure if they’ll know much about the o-lifts, and they’re not necessarily the best people to teach it.
There is a strength coach that’s there quite a bit, he’s helped me out with my form on squats and deadlifts. I just feel a bit rude getting him to teach me stuff for free, when it’s what he does for a living. Worth a shot though!
Deepsquatter has a begining Olympic Power Lifting workout in it’s archives. It has very detailed instructions and descriptions for all of the olympic lifts. i did the whole 12 week beginner workout and it was amazing.
