325 is still 325. bw+35 or bw+100 it doesn’t matter. Now take the compliment or I’ll get upset and drink a bottle of wine tonight.[/quote]
I’ll do the 225x5x10 again next session as well, cuz I don’t like to push the accessories too hard/fast. I should have gone for 10 on the money set, I had it in me. That’s 2 DL PRs in a row, which for me is really good. I assume that its the front squats making my back a little stronger, could be that I’ve been getting more protein, I’m not sure, but I felt like I was crushing it in the gym today.
At first you think you can quit anytime. “I’ll just go for a little 2.5# PR today.”. Then it’s more reps. Then you start to sandbag. “I’ll do 9 reps, it’s a PR, and then I can get 10 next time!”. Next comes the different lifts, “ring finger curls for 20#!”. Finally, you lie awake wondering how much you can press with your left baby toe and the sad fact hits home as you run screaming from your bed, “OMG, I’m a PR whore!”
Great lifting, cuz. You’re movin up. Any number of reps above 6 on DL is great. (PRs are great, too.)
Ok, I posted this really great reply giving you the secret to immediately increase you Dl by 200#. The over 35 showed me as the last poster, then bam, post gone. Any way, great deads. I’ll see if I can remember the secret.
Oops, first post showed up. I may have misrepresented that secret slightly.
I’ve been a bit cautious of reading your log, what with you being the archbishop of 5/3/1 and all. Am I supposed to do a confession when I skip deload week?
Entertaining and filled with hard work and heavy lifting.
in all honesty, carl, there are few of us who truly keep holy the week of deload. its too damn tempting to lift heavier shit more times.
so, no, confession is not necessary, your sins were expected, and logged, and indexed, and when you finally meet the great Jim Wendler in the sky, you will surely be held to account.
4/25/10 5/3/1 bench(3) cycle 9
245x 8. 10 would have been a PR. lifting in the mornings just doesn’t work for me. i only got 3 sets of the bbb. As I promised, this was probably 100 lbs under Eco
I am making a change to my program today. I broke down and bought one of Shelby Starnes’ books, (Very Low Carbohydrate Diets), and I am going to try that for a month. I am dropping all accessory work and try to replace it with conditioning stuff. by keeping the main lifts, I shouldn’t lose any strength, and might get a little stronger, but I won’t be expecting any big PRs.
i haven’t dragged my sled since i tore my calf in october, and i feel like i get out of breath doing anything. I feel practically immobile, and I can’t tolerate it any more. Since I’ll never have an elite total, I can’t get into Rhodestown, so I might as well at least have some mobility.
