Well, this took 45 minutes. This was really disappointing to me. Not only did I not hit the reps on the money set, the BBB accessories took a nose dive as well. Well, you cant serve 2 masters, and I decided that fat loss was the most important thing I had going for the next couple months. I will continue to use my current training maxes til the end of the cycle. That way I will know how much to drop my maxes by.
Instead of post session shakes with added carbs, I will just eat real food. Today I had some chicken with a couple cups steamed veggies. Not a tremendous carb load, but they may help. I will also try to add another day between training sessions for some extra recovery time. If it doesnt help, Ill just lower my maxes sooner.
Fuck it, I am lowering my training maxes now, 10lbs upper, 20lbs lower, and Ill keep the same training schedule. We will see how that goes for the next couple weeks. At least Iâ??ll be able to hit the reps. I hope. Well, I am hoping to drag the sled tomorrow, so we will see how that goes.

Man, you’re doing just fine. Keep your chin up. A lot of folks have been cruising the 3’s week saving balls-out for week 1 and week 3. You might try that so you come in sorta fresh. I was going to do that up until I decided to become a puh-SAY.
[quote]DaCharmingAlbino wrote:
What are you carping about? anything over 1 on the top set is gravy. You don’t get to reduce your maxes unless you miss. And you didn’t. Your accessory MPs were too heavy to begin with unless your max is 230 on militaries and you got 10 at 95 on the last set, which is where you are supposed to be. Just do an intelligent deload and up your maxes like you’re supposed to.

Ummm - DCA? I believe this was his 3’s week not week 3…
Might want to take back that

confused cycles with waves.
crap. And that was so much fun, too.

And please accept my apologies, mj, for unnecessarily jumping on you with such vigor. It was a sincere effort at helping.

Dood, this is what makes it so much fun! 'sides, it was only a matter of time before you got me back for the “oily rags” post over at Bunnzilla’s thread. you warned me…
7/2/09 DRAGGY-SLED!!!
yo. Sled + 33 lbs, 1 mile, 25:35.
I think I will keep loading the sled until a mile takes 30 minutes, then I’ll work on speed, and when it gets back down to 25 minutes, start loading again. that should be fun.
tomorrow is a non-lifting day, and a day off, so I will drag once again. It will be interesting to see how my dragging recovery looks compared to post-lifting recovery. it has been exactly 1 week since my last drag, so today is not a good indicator, but tomorrow will be.
Drag it up Yo.
times are getting smaller, nice work

Good stuff! You only have 250 pounds more to go to hit my bodyweight… and I am sure the snow up here will make it easier to pull my fat ass!.
And as for motivation, I will tie a seal flipper to your ass and let the polar bears chase ya… ummm… wait, I would be behind you, not a good idea.
Training is looking awesome buddy!
Thanks bunny. I spent the weekend doing nearly nothing. no dragging of the sled, nor lifting of the dead. sleep, got some of that. hung out with family. you know. the US equivalent of Canada Day.
deadlifties for lunchies today!
7/6/09 5/3/1 Deadlift (3), 3rd cycle
5x 135/225
3x 260/295
330x 4 (1 rep equiv 374, 34 lbs under best. I am king of the pussies. Bow down)
2a. Accessory Deadlift
225x 10/10/10 (set/rep PR)
215x 5
2b. decline situps
10/10/8
2c. left knee extensions
75x 6
60x 10/6
I feel like someone beat me with a stick. DCA is the likely culprit, as only I might match the charm and good looks of our Charming Albino.
As I mentioned last week, I took my training maxes down by 2 months (20 lbs on dead and squat, 10lbs on bench and military). The good news is that for accessories I was able to get 3x10, which is a new best. Set #4 was the â??time to go homeâ?? set.
My deadlift has always sucked, but PLEASE. I feel weak as a kitten, and just as cute. Seriously, DCA, thats why I donâ??t post a pitcher. Blow the cuteness meter. Anyway, since I, King of the Pussies (bow down), was weak enough to lower my training max 20 lbs, I actually hit the required reps. Wow. I suck. The one upside is that shitty training sessions usually do not hurt my sled dragging, so I will drag tomorrow and see if I can redeem myself. Even with the lower maxes, I may still need to put more days between training sessions. Or maybe every ounce I have lost has been muscleâ?¦
Work Harder Anyways,
john
I dunno how the sled drags affect you, but they may be the culprit in the lift degradation. I’m having to be very careful of volume and loading on my metcon work, progress slowly, because too much will cause me to go backwards until I adapt.

the dragging has been going fine, so far. if it was the cause of my trouble, I’d expect that my dragging performance would also go down? I think its similar to what you see with bodybuilders when they are cutting. the cardio/energy systems stuff goes okay without carbs, but lifting suffers. If I had to guess, I think its cuz burning fat takes more energy, so it is suited for steady state cardio, where lifting heavy shit requires a much faster burning fuel. If I look at my training log, the only thing that has really changed is my carb intake. Since I won’t be competing for another year or so, I have decided to suffer through less than awesome weight training in trade for dropping some lard.
I guess its true that you can’t serve 2 masters…
7/7/09 DRAGGY-SLED!!!
This morning was Sled + 37lbs for 1 mile in 27:20.
I am undecided as to whether I will lift or drag tomorrow. normally i would lift, so I am pretty sure that lifting is what I will do.
I find conditioning can work great or back fire depending on where it lands in the week.
and low carbing takes a while to acclimatize too
Nice sled work

You could lift in drag and get both out of the way at once… ![]()

doood, if my wife would let me buy one, that is TOTALLY what I’d be dragging. But, wifey say no, so I built one out of a tire. Works pretty good, but its just not the real thing.
I do like the red spraypaint idea though. at least I could paint the tire and pretend…

this never occured to me, but the more i think about it, the more i like it. plus, letting the boys dangle freely while lifting is awesome except during box sqauts.
7/8/09 5/3/1 Bench (3) 3rd cycle
Warmup 45/95/135/170
3x 200/230
260x 1 (should have been minimum 3)
2a Close Grip Bench (supersetted with rows)
205x 7
185x 10/10
175x 7
2b Kroc Rows
100x 10/10/10/10
Well, bench training max is going down another 10 lbs. So now I have lost 20 lbs from my training max on bench. I also took a nosedive on the accessories. I sure hope this is weight loss and lack of carbs, and not Mono or AIDS or something. I wanted to get the fat loss over quick, but I didnâ??t think it would cost me all of what little strength I had.
Oh well. In for a penny, in for a Pound. The adjustment is made.
I always knew that feeling strong was an important part of my emotional makeup. Its hard dropping weights like this. I hope its only temporary. 2 more months, and my bench max will be 98 lbs.
Make it work Harder,
john
Looking good,
I like the bench and rows together…
Im sure its calorie deficit and low carb tricking you.
you should get checked out- you might have hep B
