FS 181 x3! +1 PB! Really happy! Last Wednesday I hit it for 2, buried on the 3rd rep, this time I was feeling really strong and fresh.

Sn 117.5x 120x 120x 120x 120x 120x 120x 120x, not sure if I did 6 or 7 or 8? 60 and 80 felt so f0cking quick, 90 and 100 felt a bit off, got 110 but it felt heavier then usual.

The first 3 lifts are from last night. They are 100, 110x (behind), and 110x (this is the uber close one). The last 4 are from this afternoon. They are 100, 110x (front), 110x (front), 110.

I really should have had that super close one last night, but my weight was just shifted too far back on my heels and the bar was trying to pull me backwards and I just couldn’t balance it through. I was realllllllly pissed after that one. I actually took something like 7 attempts at it last night, but my camera’s running out of memory so I can’t keep them all haha. Today I made the 4th attempt.

What is the most you’ve tried?

Thanks, Debra! I wasn’t even going to snatch yesterday, but that one super close miss from the night before was just eating away at me.

Congrats on the bw Sn!

Post a video of just the bar or with 40kg. I want to see how fast you can shift the bar and 40kg. You got more speed in you mate. You just need some bast telling you over and over again like my 2 lifters!

I’ll get that video monday when I snatch again (front squats tomorrow). I actually keep telling myself to move faster between each set, and I think it’s working. I feel like I’m moving under the bar faster than I used to, now I need to keep going faster and actually catch the bar lower too (which will mean not pulling quite so high).

Yes you are faster but you can keep getting faster :slight_smile:

Don’t think of catching, think of ripping yourself under the bar. Watch videos of Hysen and Ilya lin lift, they are UBER FAST. They are really seamless with their lifting.

Hysen is a lot slower then Ilya off the floor but he is really fast after finishing his pull and straight under, no messing about at the top.

Illya is just a powerhouse beast. Pulls fast off the floor and even faster then Hysen under the bar! And he catches the bounce a lot better and has a much bigger squat than Hysen.

So I have had a good 2 week break between business trips, so I decided to really focus on my front squat…super happy with the progress. I have 2 more sessions before my next trip, so I am going to see if I can add to it. These were my max attempts from my past workouts these 2 weeks (all in pounds):

Just about to do my next workout. Each workout I keep saying, “there is no way I am going to lift even that weight” and then sure enough it goes up some more. I don’t understand, but I am not going to fight it either :slight_smile:

Terrible snatches!

Worst ever :0 My foot is going way back and it’s driving me crazy. I believe it’s my hip causing this but I’m open to any other ideas! Some of those snatches were split snatches (except my knee touched the platform) for crying out loud. I didn’t even know I knew how to split snatch :wink: Seriously though, the last lift on the video at 2:15 I was thinking about keeping both feet on the ground and this is what happened. facepalm I quit for the night after that last one.

These are all 50kg which was my opener last weekend. IF my foot behaves I’m good for easy triples but this thing is really holding my snatches back. I missed my third snatch at my meet because of the foot thing =(

I’ve noticed how much faster the pros are in comparison to me, and that’s what tells me I need to improve. I’ll keep working on my speed and my squat.

Same thing happened to me before. Got ART on my piriformis and it was gone. If you can’t get ART/massage, attack piriformis with a lacrosse ball until it doesn’t hurt. Failing piriformis, look to anything that extends and/or externally rotates the hip. piriformis is my best guess, but you could also attack biceps femoris, any of the gluteus (max, med, min), adductor magnus can help with hip extension too. basically just hunt around and find whatever is mangled, and fix it. good news is that its just soft tissue stuff that can be fixed quickly.

I did have a bunch of ART sessions a few months back but it didn’t seem to help–actually it made my problems worse. I was thinking about trying massage. I thought my issue is in my psoas or my oblique although I’ve have piriformis issues in the past but they felt quite different.

Your suggestion is probably what I should do but maybe I just need to find a new chiro.

It would be good to be able to know if this is what is making my snatches so ugly. Although I’m impressed that I am managing to still hang on and recover from them :slight_smile: I am wondering if snatching like that is also making things worse.

I have cut way back on my training and haven’t been going to max hoping that will help but so far I’m just getting weaker.

But I keep asking hoping that someone will just say that I need to finish my pull better or change my set up or something and it magically fixes things =D
