-[][][]---OL Log 5---[][][]-

Newworldman beat me to the explanation. Kevin, absolutely right. This is how Farris got screwed at World’s too!!

Solid lifting Koing…just as I think I’m catching you up you pull ahead. I’m not sure what my FS was then, dunno where my logs are. Think April 2010 it was about 110, current pb is 162 but I’ve been hitting 155 as a daily max fairly regularly now. Since I’ve added back squat in, they’ve been powering up too. I need to find a comp in may for some lifting experiance, then SMASH the Nothern Open in November. 1 week 'till my training hol too!

Hard to be happy when you don’t do as well as you feel you could. Still, 5kg comp pb clean and jerk, equal comp pb snatch and new pb total is not to be sniffed at! 305 total is badass too. What would you need to win the nationals?

Well done man!
Nationals at 105 actually has the potential to be VERY interesting. Within the last 4-5 months there’s been 5 guys who have totalled 300+ in competition at 105, one of whom has hit 325 in the past. Actually, if you take each of those lifter’s best competition total (that I’m aware of) from the last 5 months, you get 300, 305, 310, 310, and 311. So it could turn into a very tight race for the medals and will depend heavily on who shows up and what kind of shape they show up in.
Should make for an interesting time then! I’m rooting for your 320+

Cool, where you going? I’m saving up for one.

It’s too bad there won’t be a stream of that. I’d love to see it!
That would be a sweet comp to watch!

Ryan, George, Justin and the 2 other dudes!

SUPER chuffed with the comp, 5/6 made my 275 total

3 PBs, can’t complain, a great comp for me, best in 13yrs. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten 3/3 in the Sn and it’s been so long since I made 5/6, best sinclair with 322 as well.

Those are some nice lifts and some nice PBs man. Well done.
Agreed - nice lifts and BIG congrats on the new totals.

Re: your brother’s clock issue. They were correct once the clock starts and the lifter calls for the increase then the next lifter is up on a 1:00 clock even if he was the prior lifter. He is not following himself at this point. See rules 6.5.14 & 15 of the IWF handbook:

When a competitor asks for a change of weight and still
has to take this heavier weight next, the clock is stopped
while the weight is changed. After the change has been
completed, the clock continues to run until the end of the
allocated time. When a competitor asks for a change and,
in doing so, follows another competitor, the normal one
minute (60 seconds) applies for the next attempt.
6.5.15 In case a request by an athlete taking consecutive attempts
changes the order and another athlete is called whose time
starts running, but he/she too asks for a change, as a result
of which athlete No.1 (originally called) is called again,
he/she shall be granted only one (1) minute.

This happened to Mendes as US Nationals. A good tactic if not good sportsmanship.

I thought so. But at least my coach knew of it and got my bro on the platform with time to spare to lift. Just that following yourself is a mofo!

this dude then runs up to me and tells me to stop dropping the weights and that I’m making too much noise and it’s distracting him…I tell him does he know what I’m doing and it’s fine for me to drop weights. I am lifting on platforms, eleiko bar, rubber weights…he says he is going to speak to management. I tell him that is fine, go ahead. A few guys roll their eyes at the dude…granted no one is doing anything over head but they at least know your allowed to drop weights from over head. I’ve spoken to most of the gym instructors and they are fine with me dropping weights from over head. The platforms are meant for it as well as the expensive Eleikos and random rubber weights (random as they are weird colours and not standard Oly colours). He storms off. He goes to the managers office a few times but I don’t think anyone is in. He gets someone later and he is telling her something. She probably tells him that I’m allowed to drop weights on the platforms as they were designed for this single reason…it was the first time I’ve had some guy tell me to not drop weights from over head lol. He was doing some weird punching movement on the cable machine. I used his hilarious rage to lift more weight…I was f0cking determine to double 120
120 1/2
120 x
120 2/2 booyah! TAke that from not dropping over head! If I could lower 120 often and without injurying myself I’d probably be lifting enough to go to the Olympics…

CJJ : going to do double Jerks
warm up
60
100
120
140 +5kg PB, previous PB was 135, the 140 hit me like a sack of spuds on the 2nd rep, didn’t do so well in lowering it and dropping it on myself…more like dropped it on myself and crumpled me up, set myself up and made the 2nd Jerk.

CJ
145 was suppose to do a double Jerk but felt way too heavy to lower down so just did one J with it
150x made the Cn but did’t get the 2nd Jerk

Wide Grip Pull ups
18 : Equal PB! Hit 12 really strong, 13-15 were good then grinded out the last 3reps

Ab work, stretch

Good session.

Front squat PR after back squatting up to 95%. Front squat 345 lbs. Thats 156.

Front Squat PR 350 lbs (159).

The log’s been getting no love lately. I power cleaned 120 this week: Power clean 120kg @72.5 - YouTube

New goal: double bodyweight power clean. That would be 145. I’m only weighing about 72kg these days. I’ve dropped almost 5kg bw in the last 2 months simply from squatting everyday. It’s crazy.

Alec

Did a mock competition today, since there were no available competitions around me anytime soon (set the date 6 weeks ago).

Snatch
1st: 60
2nd: 66 [+1kg over last mock competition]
3rd: 71 miss front

Clean and Jerk
1st: 87 [+1 over last mock competition]
2nd: 92 [+6kg over last mock competition]
3rd: 96x got the clean, missed the jerk out front [+1kg PR on my clean]

Overall 66/92 for a total of 158 [+7kg over last time]

Video of my third attempts, both of which I missed:

My own observations:
I think the snatch looks alright until I try to stand up, which launches me forwards (nearly ran into a wall lol). I’m honestly not sure where I went wrong here…

The clean looks alright to me too, but it looks like I don’t get under the jerk enough. Looking at the video my arms don’t look nearly as bent as they felt.

How do you find the adipowers?

They are a much more snug fit than my old Kanama’s, narrower through the toe as well (good for me since I don’t have a wide foot). I think they have slightly less of a heel rise than the Kanama’s as well, just based off of feel. I haven’t had much experience with oly shoes though, so I can’t really compare to many others. They look and feel like a high quality shoe, and I’d recommend them if you need a new pair.

Thanks, where may I ask did you get them?

dynamic eleiko, 199+shipping, came out to 230ish (shipping was high since I’m in canada, and they are in the US)

I’ve had a new coach doing my programming for the last couple weeks, and he’s thrown some tempos into my squats. I hate him for that. Front squatted 160 for a triple today, with three second eccentrics and two second pauses in the hole.

033

I like to aim high

You looked pretty solid on that 1/2 CJ with 142.5. You’ve jerked 155 as a max before?
