Yeah, maybe it looked strong, but that was about all I had haha. Went for 170 afterwards and barely clean pulled it, just drained.

57kg is pretty darned good i reckon. i’ll be a happy camper when i can squat it for a triple (pretty close!!)

high bar back squats are my favorite lift (after snatches) i’ve decided. they really do feel so much more comfortable than front squats.

koing - he said the main point of the pulls was to get the bar gaining momentum from the floor. doing them at a heavier weight than one is cleaning / snatching to help the first pull feel easy.

i’m not quite sure about the shrug at the top of it… but whatever. it certainly seems to be working in making the first pull feel easier.

high bar back squats…

i got 50kg for 2x3 last time! didn’t feel close to a max - though a bit of work to be sure!

i think i am getting stronger generally. probably because of all the doubles / triples i have to do now. probably also because all i really focused on before was snatch and front squat. doing a lot more pulling now and i find it much easier to drive the back squat up whereas it is almost painful to try and drive my hips through on a front squat (my femurs don’t seem to want to rotate that way).

clean pulling 65kg for triples… (50kg max powerclean)
snatch pulling 55kg for triples… (40kg max snatch).

40kg is going up much better for a single now. overpulling it seems to be an issue :slight_smile:

he reckons to forget about trying to get under my power-jerks. so just working on driving them up hard and catching them high. 40kg for a double (little soft on the second rep). that is progress too since it wasn’t reliable for a single before.

sounds like the coach is doing you a lot of good already, alexus. heavy pulls from the floor are great for building overall strength. if you get strong at those and keep driving your back squat up I bet you’ll see a lot of progress on your snatch/clean. i personally love deadlifting, but i don’t do it very much anymore because it beats the shittttt out of my body nowadays. anyway, good work.

57 kg snatch!

I cheated–I wasn’t supposed to get the weights until I did a 60kg snatch but I used them tonight and decided to use them anyway. It was supposed to be a rest day but I had to try them so I decided because I’m thinking about a meet in a couple of weeks to drop a pound or two so I did 20 snatches in 20 minutes @50kg. And because I ate a whole pizza and I was feeling like I shouldn’t have :wink:

Then I was feeling really good about those since I did all 20 with one silly miss from behind. So I went ahead and made my way up til I made 57 easily and then had 4 decent attempts at 59kg.

Alexus I’m so happy you’re getting some coaching! It sounds like you’re getting stronger and progressing nicely.

The bad things I could do if I could FS 192.5! I’m really over do a PB on the FS man…just got to time it right, maybe Sunday? Resting Thur, Fri and Sat due to a Wedding. Will 182.5 fall?!

It’s coming along. Shoulders are starting to be better!

From September till December last year all I could do was do upperbody stuff as I hurt my knee and couldn’t squat or lift…

Got my arms to 17inches pumped lol. That and wide grip pull ups was the only thing keeping me sane and my mate working to 17inch guns as well. We did it in about 7 weeks lol.

While I am lucky to have a lifting platform 3mins from my house when the gym is busy it kills me! I had ANOTHER student cut across the platform while I was lifting, I was so close to shouting SERIOUSLY?!?!?! when he did it but if he’d have said something back I would have lost it! I missed my 150 squat because someone was really close to the end of the bar and I thought they were going to clip it!

There is one guy who HAS to do his bicep curls on the platform, this p1sses me off even when I dont need to use it.

Rant over…hopefully its empty today or people will be reading in the news about and man going on a rampage in a UK gym!
