i got 40kg today (=PR)
for the first time ever it felt light off the floor.
think it is because my coach has had me doing triples of pull to shrug (don’t know what it is called) with 45kg, 50kg and 55kg (more each time as i get used to them). i was dubious about it (especially if the shrug is supposed to pull you under) but whatever - it is certainly helping the pull feel easier!
back squatted (high bar) 45kg for a triple today, too. didn’t feel close to a 3RM (it surely is a 1RM for front squat). i think i am starting to like these high bar back squats. finally found a comfortable place to hold it… feels much stronger than a front squat… [/quote]

Remember what they tell you is about getting you to do it correctly. It may or may not be entirely true what they tell you but it’ll get you to do what they want. Some people react/ do different things to the same thing said.

Alright, since I taped and posted this for the Overhead Press Challenge thread in GAL I figured I’d throw it down here too. Seem to remember somebody (debraD maybe?) asking if I had a youtube channel or ever posted videos, so here ya go. 165 clean and jerk at a BW of about 105.4
Ignore the awful music in the background. That’s how I know I’m in the zone, when I have no idea what’s playing on the radio while I’m lifting.
TheJonty, I snooped on your channel You said in your comment about your last meet you needed to work on your full extension, did you mean on the snatch? Did you get that figured out?

Yeah, I meant the snatch, and yes and no. And technically that wasn’t my last meet, I bombed out of nationals a couple months after that (weird how that one didn’t make it to youtube . . . ). I spent about 3 months over the summer lifting like 1-2x a week, dropped a whole lot of bodyweight (was 112.5 10 days out from nats, down to 102.5-103ish by mid-August), and the lifting kind of went to shit a bit. Over the last little, as I got my shit back together, I’ve been focusing a lot more on finishing the pull and keeping the bar tight, and it was starting to get a lot better, but over the last couple weeks I’ve had a few long breaks (5-6 days off in a row) which have fucked with my consistency again. Feeling relatively strong, the groove just isn’t there. We’ll see how I manage in my next meet in a couple weeks here.

I took 5 weeks off and everything was screwed. My snatches are good again but I seem to have lost my cleans and my jerks. I need some coaching but all the coaches I have been able to meet up with to are quite busy right now.

Looked strong mate! Recovery had a high sticking point. I’m also starting to develop a high sticking point on my FS as well?!
