You mean anecdotal evidence right? You can’t deny the fact that physiologically this beverage will have an impact, whether we feel it or not.

At the same I’m a bit skeptical because they say coffee is great as a pre-workout but bad as a post-workout… But the half-life of coffee is not really an hour…

I’m drinking coffee as a read this “evidence” about caffeine. My morning so far: had a cup of coffee, ran 7 miles, showered, having another cup of coffee now while I’m considering what I’ll have for breakfast.

On a related-unrelated note: anyone else ever make turmeric milk? It’s a concoction popular in other cultures, and I made some with: cashew/coconut milk (unsweetened but needs to have a reasonable amount of fat to help with nutrient absorption and to ultimately make it a good drink; 1.5 tsp turmeric; 0.25 tsp ginger powder; raw honey; cinnamon and black pepper to taste. Simmer and stir about 5 minutes. I also add medicinal mushrooms (reishi and lion’s mane, today). Really good and supposedly fantastic for health.

People people, look, it’s like this.

Caffeine makes the most sense POST workout.

Because if you consume it pre or DURING a workout (god forbid), that would mean you’re having water (in some capacity) with your training.

And anyone who plays high school sports knows: water makes you weak.

No, recent studies have shown a modest positive benefit for gains and recovery. The point is that this doesn’t really matter the the grand scheme of things, it’s just interesting how something “counterintuitive” pwn does ends up being “demonstrated in the literature”

I’m saything this probably because I work for the company (Costco), but concerning food, yeah it’s kiiiiiiind of a bargain. Up until that same thing you bought last week, goes on sale for an even lower price (the nice employees will inform you that you can just price match), but literally anything else…and I mean ANYTHING else…is expensive.

My family goes to costco exclusively for food, so we haven’t had to experience getting ripped off :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Also, Costco’s fruit is just better IMO

The rebate checks usually do a decent job of compensating for what you spend annually, so there’s that added bonus. I’d say if you consistently shop for the same things, youre in the clear, but i often see a lot of people go into shopping frenzies, and freak out when 10 items costs them about 350.

yep! I’ve been on a barramundi kick, and for some reason, the most delicious fish is also the cheapest.

Smoked salmon is also the best out of all the stores we go to

I do appreciate the meat and deli departments for having top notch quality products. Even bakery makes some nice stuff for decent prices. I don’t really care for anything in D19, or D68 (Deli/prepared meals section), freezer/cooler items are usually our hot items, specifically microwaveable stuff, but at that point youre starting to see like Eggo brands being damn near 18$. Nah.

I will say though, the biggest culprit is our clothing section. 5-7 articles of clothing can easily get you up to 100$. Tax may or may not be included. Unless you’re resale, tax exempt, or a foreign diplomat. Even then those discounts arent always guaranteed to slice every last cent of tax off.

But then again…you’ve got name brands like CK, Orvis, Ella Moss, Coach, Versace (occasionally), LV, Nike, etc., that are typically hella expensive everywhere else, but we slash the prices down considerably for actual real brands we get shipped…so perhaps in the grand scheme of things its still a bargain…but then again…also kinda not when you get into specifics.

How is January going for everyone?
Mine is pretty good overall. I made noticeable progress on the abdomen area. Diet is cleaner and greener. Still lots of room for improvement.
Finally reaching that point where visible progress inspires better choices, hopefully a virtuous cycle ensues.

My kid and I are heading out to the Golden Corral for dinner tonight and I’ve had steak and eggs for breakfast for the past week while getting up to lift at 0315 for the past 5 days, so my Jan is right about on point.

Down about 6lbs from a few weeks ago, cut carbs back to as close to zero as I’m willing to allow myself, first cheat meal last night but that’ll be a regular thing if my weight loss doesn’t start to plateau.

Feeling and looking way less bloated, feel amazing with more fat and protein.

I’m having trouble gaining weight so it’s not going great lol. Turns out it’s a lot easier to starve vs eat big consistently. I can’t wait to start dieting, and I’m not even gaining :joy:

Mine is going really well. I’m running a new program, have my nutrition dialed in, and am doing “dry” January. I’m purposely not weighing myself or comparing yet, but just keeping my head down and getting it done. I plan to assess (weigh in and update pics) in about three more weeks, once I finish the base building phase of the program I’m on.

Lowest weight so far this morning. 194, so I’m down about 6 pounds. Nice and slow. Beard progress is also nice. I’m unofficially quarantined for another 5 days, so I’m getting a week of home training with built in cold therapy.

In any other context, this would not be considered a step in the right direction for a “transformation goal” :joy::joy:

Not great. Weight hasn’t moved much. I discovered I have quite the water though and big visual fluctuations.

Every day I am more and more tired, waking up with terrible bags under the eyes, and I haven’t started the real dieting ahahah

I actually embrace the upcoming lockdown, I’ll be able to rest and have some kidn of structure

Gotta add bodyfat to add size and strength. Tale as old as time.

I’ve been pushing hard at the gym and put cardio back in the routine, But the scale hasn’t budged

I’m totally exhausted each day. When I get up during the night to pee, I feel like a have an additional 100 lbs on my back. I’ve been sweating during the night too.

I have been eating better. I feel like the fat on my stomach is thinner, but looking in the mirror it seems unchanged. I’m sure that I will not notice anyway since I’m looking each day.
