For me, I measure strictly in grams.

Not that it matters to you, but there’s evidence supporting caffiene consumption both pre and post workout, so you’ve definitely got that right

I did all the training I’m going to do today before 0430, so yeah!

I mean, wouldn’t the only other alternative be caffeine consumption DURING workout?

some people were afraid of post workout caffiene consumption inhibiting gains, evidence suggests that they were wrong

Man, some people have got WAY too much time on their hands if they’re sweating caffeine consumption related to muscle growth. I already know all the things I’m doing wrong for muscle growth, and don’t care to go about fixing them. It’s not worth the extra .2%.

my point exactly- it really doesn’t matter, and is, if anything, beneficial. But just for kicks:

Sometimes that last ten cents costs a dollar.

I love how this was glossed over, but in any place other than a lifting forum people would question you, call you out or ask how you don’t get fat etc etc.

If you break it down, it’s really just like taking 1 big meal and breaking it up into a bunch of small ones.

Before lunch I’m eating

3 whole egg (and later egg whites, which often people will mix together to make an omelet)
3oz sirloin
A double serving of yogurt mixed with some PB powder
A protein bar
A protein shake

That’s a hearty breakfast for sure, but if you’re eating one of those Costco megamuffins or 3 donuts for breakfast, you’re probably taking in a similar amount of calories: just less nutrition.

For me, I’m just always hungry, and being able to slow drip the nutrition like that allows me to keep satiating. I could easily just eat that all in one sitting, but then it’s a question of sitting around and being hungry until lunch vs feeling ok until then. Probably something to be said about protein synthesis timing too or something.

Maybe I’m too naive or oblivious but pretty much everyone I know “skips breakfast”. When someone finds out I have a quarter gallon of milk, protein powder and 2 breakfast sandwiches in the.morning I’m normally met with a surprised or disgusted look. Even the lady at the checkout counter is somehow blown away that I eat two of them every morning. I just find the disconnect between people who lift and people who don’t kind of funny. Like you said though, they’re probably eating a couple donuts or some other sugary dessert.

Another goofy thing is calling lifting “bodybuilding”. My immediate family asks me how my bodybuilding is going and tell people I’m a bodybuilder. To them it’s all the same thing haha.

Not naive or oblivious at all: that’s reality. People would rather sleep until the last conceivable minute and rush out the door vs wake up 5 minutes earlier and have something for breakfast. Inevitably, they end up starving by the time they get to where they’re going and make bad decisions, and then wonder why they can’t lose weight. It’s how breakfast being the most important meal of the day got started. It’s also why Poptarts likes to brag about a study they did where kids who ate Poptarts for breakfast before school performed better vs kids who skipped breakfast: because eating literally ANYTHING is better than not eating in regards to not being distracted by hunger.

As for the bodybuilding thing, I’m at the point that, if someone mistakes me for a bodybuilder, it’s a compliment, haha.

Haha yeah that makes complete sense I guess.

I would absolutely take it as a compliment it I felt I somewhat looked the part haha.

Why did you post this!!! There is nothing I like more than sipping un tazza di caffe post workout. Now I’m going make to feel bad about it.

Maybe it’s okay if we put protein in it? I can live with this.

I bet depriving yourself of that enjoyment would be more detrimental to gains than whatever effect post-workout caffeine would have.

Fwiw I didn’t read the linked posts.

Yeah it raises cortisol but that’s it… I train first thing in the morning at school so of course I have coffee afterwards, and I didn’t die, I even set PRs… Your boss/wife inducing stress will destroy your gains way more than a cup of coffee

Easy solution: ignore the article. There’s articles on here telling me I can do literally impossible things in impossibly short time frames. I’d be devastated if I paid attention to them.
