Nsuns 531 Effective for Powerlifting?

Just wondering if this program is good for powerlifting, aren’t high reps more desirable for bodybuilding?

You may have better luck asking this on the Bigger Stronger Leaner sub-forum. This one is for Jim Wendler’s program.

What is the program (no links, a summary would be good enough)? Nsuns, from what I see, is some random dude on Reddit with no particular qualifications or achievements that I could find. Wendler’s 5/3/1 builds strength, and strength is kind of good for powerlifting, so I’d go with that.

Depends what you consider high reps. Basic 5/3/1 training uses “high reps” in the Plus Set, but that’s not “for bodybuilding”.

There are a lot of 531 variations and Nsuns is based on one of them. However, based on the core 531 principles (there are like 5 or 6 listed in the latest book) that program does not follow them so its not even 531, and having it in the name just adds confusion. It basically took a rarely used template in an old 531 book that probably was not meant to be done for long periods of time, and modified it even further and said do this for long periods of time.

There is a 5/3/1 for powerlifting book. It has some tweaks, but it’s the same basic program. If you are interested in using 5/3/1 for powerlifting, I’d read the book.

A mod moved my thread from the powerlifting forum, apparently

I might stick to 5/3/1, been meaning to do the monolith so I’ll start next week with it

Ah, that explains a lot of why I’m hurting all of the time! Thanks dude!
