Not as Fat Guy in a Little Coat

Just stopped in for my dose of Virginia powerlifting. As always things look amazing. I hate you guys.(in a jealous as hell way)

Hey meat,
so we just tested squat, bench and trap-bar DL at my school.
and I hit PRs across the board, 405 squat, 430 trap-bar DL and 270 bench.

I just wanted to let you know that I was thinking about you and your videos before and during every lift to get myself psyched up.
You may not know me, but youve definitely influenced me.

Thanks
Warren

10x405

Speed Deads against Mini Bands
3x135
8x3x225

Got through this in about an hour. I started getting sick at work yesterday so by the time we did this session I was feelin it. Its funny, because I didn’t feel weaker really, I was just winded the whole time. Everyone gets colds though, and it’ll be gone in a few days I’m sure.

this is hilarious…

couple days to post…

deads-

sumo deads from sticking point- about 3 inches off floor
135x6
225x4
315x2
405x2
540x5 - 80% of 675

keystone deads- no straps, double overhand
225x10
315x10
405x10

speed pulls against bands
225x3x8

accessory day-

pulldowns

some x 10 x 2

pullups

BW x 2
BW +45 x 2
BW +100 x 2- +10lb PR. this is the goal i’ve had since starting pullups. now i’ll stick with this weight until i can get 6 with it
BW x 8- 5 count at dead hang

hammer strength lateral raise

some x 10
some x 15
some x 20

21’s on Preacher curl

some x 3

that’s it.

Nice training boss.

Dammit… ok ok, I will incorporate some weighted pullups into my training… sheesh, stop breaking my balls!

Nice pull-ups meat! I have a question regarding those.

You have SUBSTANTIALLY increased your strength on them in a short period of time. I was wondering what kind of carryover you have felt toward your strength on the big 3, or your shoulder health, or size, or anything. I am just curious as to your take on how those have carried over to you powerlifting.

3-9-10 Bench

BB Flat Bench*Paused

Neutral-Grip DB Floor Press *Paused

1x295
1x315

Wow… surprised myself tonight. 5x265 wasn’t too hard at all. Those DB Floor press’s are gettin hard as hell, but they feel great. We did something different tonight with the mini bands. We just kept going up until we hit a wall against the bands. We were doing TnG with a bit of a bounce, just to see what we could lockout with them. I hit 275 easy and 295 wasnt too bad. I went for 315 and bounced probably a bit more than I intended to, but it got heavy as hell half way up but I was able to lock it out myself. The bands add quite a bit at the top which you can probably tell from the videos. Ill link the video’s in a little while when scott has a chance to upload them.

Awesome night…

bench night-

reverse grip bench- used a thick bar… bad idea. i pinched a nerve in my hand on 315 and it didn’t feel right after that. i shut it down after the second rep with 425. was supposed to do 5 reps but the bar just wasn’t sitting right in my hand. next week i’ll go back to the normal bar.

0x6
135x6
185x4
225x2
275x1
315x1
365x1
425x2

floor press with dumbells- legs straight, very long pause

140’s x 12 +2 rep PR
140’s x 10

speed bench against bands- like jowee said we decided to just keep adding weight until we hit a wall with the bands. i was pleasantly suprised at how high i was able to move up before the bar slowed down. i think i still had a little more in me.

She thinks there’s something weird about squatting in jeans too. Go figure.

thanks hoss!!

i do my pullups a bit different than most people. i try to do them much like i would row the bar down to me when i bench. i take the same width grip and i use a thumbless grip. the most important thing i do is i start my pullup by attempting to “bend the bar” as i pull myself up. i push the outsides of my hands hard into the pullup bar really activating my lats. i try to pull myself up using my lats as much as possible. instead of pulling mainly from the biceps. then i lower to a dead hang and power up the same way again. doing these things have made the eccentric portion of my bench much more comfortable. i actually get more carryover from these pullups than i do from bent over rows.
