Nike Romaleos 2

Are these shoes really worth it i squat high bar and put 5lb plates under my heels and it makes squatting so much better would these shoes help me?

I have recently been looking at the same thing… not the nikes tho… the Risto’s or the Rogue (either 3/4 or 1/2 inch heel) … Ive never used lifting shoes… my squat is not very high, but i attribute that a lot to bad knees (excuses right) and thought maybe some additional support would allow me to improve on some of those deficiencies with better form that i understand shoes force.

I just ordered these today bro once i squat in them i will let you know how they are. Stay posted

Ps. Do you high bar squat also ?

Yes. Wear weightlifting shoes. As a wise man once said, “the clue is in the name”.

Shoes are the most important piece of equipment. Its like asking if you are going to run track without track shoes, play football without cleats, or go running without running shoes. Yeah you can get away it, but you are limiting yourself if you do. You dont need the Nike brand (though they are very nice) but a basic weightlifting shoe is miles ahead of regular sneakers or chucks if you plan on lifting weights (especially in the olympic lifts).

I dont plan on doing the olympic lifts i just use high bar olmpic style squats for powerlifting and i wanted a good oly shoe i did order the romaleos 2 lol but since youre on here ill ask you since my other thread isnt getting answered. Is there anything wrong squatting oly style and using a belt. I squat 450 oly style and have always used a belt anything wrong or why i shouldnt use one ?

Dropping 200 bucks on a pair of Romaleos is a sound investment. I didn’t care much for lifting shoes until I tried them, there is absolutely no comparison.

At first you might find it wierd (especially on pulls) but you’ll come around to it. I squatted my whole life with running/traning shoes and they would deform under heavy weight and let my akles would roll inwards and overpronate to the point I got kinda worried, but after switching to Oly shoes I feel as if have two concrete blocks for feet.

Trust me, you’ll be amazed.

Since I’m already tiping, please allow me to chime in on the belt question - I don’t think there’s a problem since the belt does not implicate on how you perform the movement, they just give you an additional spinal support/intra abdominal pressure.

I can’t comment on the Romaleos, but one thing to remember about any quality weightlifting shoe is that it will last easily a decade with minimal care. Weightlifting shoes are expensive up front but over the long haul are a negligible cost.

Thanks alot for all the replies everyone its good to know i made a good investment. Ill only be using them for squats and thats it then changing back to my chucks for my assistance excercises. My fiance thought i was crazy paying this much for shoes but she doesnt understand that they will last me probably 5-10 years just using them for squats if not longer i hope anyway haha

Can anyone comment on the sizing of the Nike Romaleos??

I wear a US size 10 for my nike free’s, which are a snug but comfortable fit. Im asking this as I am about to order a pair, which is costing me a fortune as I have to pay for shipping from the US to Australia.

Bird, I own a pair of 10s and they’re a nice fit. Smug, but not too much - just enough to ensure me there’s not much movement within the shoe.

Just so you know, I play with Nike cleats and they’re 10.5s and my Nike Free is a 10.

I think you should stick with your true size #.

Just got mine today i wear a snug 10 in nike runners i am at work now ill post later on how they feel.

Nothing wrong with it. Belts are tools to maintain your core. Just dont use it as a crutch, instead save it for heavier sets (ie 90%+).

So i finally got off work and home from the gym here. I got the shoes and had a chance to try them on i ordered a 10 since i wear a very snug nike in the same size it is just a little big nothing crazy if i wouldve went with 9.5 it mightve been too tight. Hope this helps. It feels just right cant wait to squat in them monday ((:

Love em (((: good investment
