Thinking about purchasing a pair of lifting shoes. The most they will get used for at least in the foreseeable future is Front and back squats, and the occasional power clean or high pull. I think I have narrowed my choice down between the Do-win 1/2" heel, the Nike Romaleos, and the Inov-8 Fastlift 335.
Really curious to see if anyone had used the Fastlifts, or any of the other two and what their impressions were of them.
My brother has the Nike’s and I have worn them on occasion. They are awesome, they are a solid shoe. I would say they would last forever if all you’re doing is squatting in them.
I have the rogue do-wins 3/4 heel, and the vs athletics 3/4, both good shoes. My body had the 335’s and returned them for a used pair of romaleos. They are advertised as a shoe that can support heavy weight as well as be able to let you run, do metcons, etc, but he said running on them was horrid and they feel squishy.

The rogue do-wins in 3/4 are solid. I would avoid a weight lifting shoe that you can also run in (except maybe those shoes that look like toe socks).
I got some cheap VS athletics, and I have no complaints. Although they are the only weightlifting shoes I’ve owned, so I have no real comparison. They made my ankle pain from front squatting vanish and they’ve held up very well.
I love these shoes. Got them for around $90 on Ebay, which is $100 dollars less than the Adipower or Nike Romeleos. They have excellent grip and support. The 1/2" heel assist me on my squat (high bar, narrow stance) and convo deadlifts. I have read reviews that if you have a wide stance on squat, that Chucks may be a better option.
Right now the pendlay shoes are on sale for $99. They are awesome lifting shoes for $129 so right now, they are probably the best value you can get before jumping up to the nike or adipowers
I will throw my 2 cents in… my Adi-powers are the shiznit. However, Muscle Driver currently has the Pendlay Do-win on sale for $99 bucks w/ free shipping. As I am becoming a collector of all things power and huge, I ordered a pair… ya know, in case I need a backup.
Thanks for the heads up on the MD sale. Ordering a pair but waiting for a shipping quote.
Anyone else wear about size 11 mens that can give some sizing info??
My Nike Free 3.0s say 11.5/29.5 cm …Chuck Taylors are a very very snug 9.5/28 cm. If anyone wears about the same size and bought some Pendlay’s I’d really appreciate a word about what size you got and how they fit. It would really suck to have pay for international shipping three times…

Romaleos are generally considered the best of the weightlifting shoes. I personally have a pair of Reebok CF Lifters because I was impatient and the Romaleos were out of stock (that said, they’ve been great and I haven’t had any problems). I haven’t tried to the inov-8 FastLifts, but I love my F-Lites, so if they’re anything like those, they’ll probably be pretty awesome.
Just a heads up to those interested, inov-8 is on promotive.com and you can pick up the fastlifts for about $85. You should be able to qualify if you’re military, LE, Fire/Ems, outdoors retail/guide, forest service, etc etc. I got a good deal on the reebok oly shoes (which are pretty decent IMO) and then the fast lifts went up on promotive right after I ordered. Just throwin that out there since it seems like most of the shoes cost an arm and leg

If you can, however, I’d get the Nikes.
I don’t think so. It’s pretty evenly split between Nike and Adidas. The Nikes are heavier and don’t breathe as well, whereas the Adidas are often considered too tight (they’re designed this way for a purpose).
Wow! Got my shoes already yesterday…the shipping from Eastbay said 7-10 days but they came in 5. This is the first time I’ve ever had something delivered so quickly. Huge props and recommendation to other users overseas.
I have never tried on a pair of lifting shoes before and when I placed my order I was expecting a lot from them.
The shoes have exceeded the already high expectations I built up. They’ve expanded my possible ROM, allowed me to open my hips better, they keep my feet planted to the floor better, and as a result I can push into the floor better and generate much more power. Squatting feels much, much different. I have always been a quad-dominant squatter, exclusively squatting high bar without any low bar work at all for years, so it may be that shoes work well together with the type of style I have built as well as my leverages, but I am simply amazed.

I have two pairs of Romaleos that are too small for me and that I need to ship back. Still trying to find the right size.
But they’re very nice, well-built shoes.
Info for any others that read this…I wear 11.5/29.5cm Nike Frees that fit fairly well. I ordered half a size down, 11/29cm for the Romaleos and they are a good fit. Feel comfortable, not too loose, not too tight…
Nike shoes are traditionally over-sized. My running shoes have always been Nikes and I’ve always had to buy a half-size or a size larger.
Has anyone tried the Crossfit lifter Plus? I’ve seen them on Rogue for $175 and they look decent, but for that price I figure I might as well go with the Romaleos or Adipower.
