Nice and easy tinned tuna recipes

I have found more and more that i am relying on 2 x tins of tinned tuna to meet my protein requirements. I end up just putting them in a bowl with some red vinegar but its pretty boring and not that great.

Just wondered if there are any people’s easy, quickly and healthy recipes for eating 2 cans of tinned tuna.

Cheers

Less recipe, more guidelines.

Tuna goes well with finely diced/minced veggies like onion, carrot and celery. Red or green bell pepper would probably work well too. Or all of the above.

You can also get creative with seasonings, herbs and spices without messing with the calories or macros (all while adding a nutritional punch). Thyme, garlic powder, parsley, etc.

Tuna always needs a little bit of moisture added to it. Besides the red vinegar, you can try and whip up a quick dressing. I don’t know what macros you are looking for, but a tablespoon of olive oil shouldn’t hurt. Whisk olive oil with lemon juice, dijon mustard and a minced clove of garlic.

Finally, don’t forget a little salt and pepper.

For my entire competing time I ate a can of tuna fish at 10:00am and then another can at 3:00pm. I always ate it right out of the can. I got the idea of adding a little black coffee. Just a tablespoon of coffee took much of the fishy taste out of the tuna. The taste began to approach the taste of grilled swordfish that I would get sometimes when I went out to eat. The beauty of the black coffee was that I added no calories.

Before calling me crazy (I might be the only person on earth to believe this improved the taste) but give it a test try.

I first saw this scene when I was in high school

At 36 seconds in, you hear (who I believe to be) Ed Corney say the phrase “tuna omelet”

Up until that point in my life, I had never considered making such a thing before.

After having it many times: it’s awesome.

Thanks for this, will try this tomorrow.

I had to google what scallions were, in little old England we call them spring onions.

Lay out some lettuce & salad fixins on a plate, dump can of tuna on. Black pepper, oregano & balsamic for dressing.

Being ridiculous and able to get fat off of good foods, I like to hit it with some shredded mozzarella or mozzarella pearls too. Maybe a dash of truffle oil.

Recently I’ve decided to add a can of tuna to whatever I have leftover in the fridge.

For instance there might be a small dish of pasta in there, or a slice of pizza, or Chinese food.

Previously, I would just eat the leftovers and later have a can of icky boring tuna.

I figured why not just mix them. I love it!

Also with the pizza, adding an entire can to 1-slice really cuts the cravings for a second slice!

A real quick go to is brown rice, black beans, and a can of Blue Harbor wild albacore tuna. Spice it up with hot sauce.

Tuna, unflavored Greek yogurt, low cal buffalo sauce. Mix it together and throw onto a low carb tortilla.

Extra points if you add avocado
