Since my Cowboys suck this year it got me thinking about losing records and playoffs. With what the Bengals did last year in sweeping there division, do you ever thing we will have a 6 and 10 playoff team? I mean you beat everyone in your division but lose all your other games you could make it in? Am I just bored cause my Cowboys suck? Maybe. Dont care.
There’s been some years where I thought the NFC West might accomplish the goal of a ‘someone has to win the division’ playoff team… but 6-10 seems really extreme.
Well Baseball and Basketball have had guys with .500 records or less making the playoffs. Is that the type of league we could enjoy? I mean taking the NFC west division winner is 6-10 but the NFC South has 3 teams that are all over 10-6 for the year. One of these teams is not going because the 6-10 team goes. Just wild thinking that could happen.
The year the Cardinals made it in at 9-7 there was a lot of discussion about that(in hindsight, hey they made the super bowl and almost won good on them!) because the Patriots of that year missed the playoffs at 11-5. I have always wondered what the point of using division winners for playoff seedings and shit is(but then if it means nothing the divisional rivalries start to lose meaning?). From a purely best-competition-possible standpoint they are obviously less than ideal.
I remember the Cards discussion, but that year in my opinion the Cards had just let off the gas, they had a team. They were able to flip the switch in the playoffs which doesnt happen very often. I dont understand how whole divisions have down years. NFC west is pretty equal this year on strength which aint great. How does this happen? Makes no sense to me, NFC south was from worst to first for how many years? How does that happen? Shit always makes me love this league.

I know there’s been a handful of 8-8 teams to make it recently as well, but I can’t remember which were wild cards(perfectly acceptable, although it sucks when one conference wild card is 8-8 and the other is like 10-6/11-5) and which were division winners which is obviously pretty relevant information to this discussion; and as not busy as I am to post on forums, I’m busy enough to not go on a research binge to figure it out =p
yea last year i remember it was the phins playoff spot to lose… and of course they lost it… surprised to see the jets go so far…
but hats off to them they def kept that cohesiveness coming into this year… braylon, holmes, and LT are looking like monster acquisitions… i remember braylon’s first game against the fins…
read it in the NY Post today, this proves that is always prudent to hear both sides of the story. She was offered by the Jets to be flied to next weeks game and watch the game in one of the luxury suites but she refused, sounds like she knew it was an accident.
I didn’t know what to think when I first read that…I was maybe slightly offended at the insinuation that we have become that sad as a fanbase(when in reality I think we are actually a pretty good ‘away’ crowd, sure we’ll talk some shit but I’ve seen NUMEROUS pitt fans have beers bought for them after a round of drunken bantering). On the other hand, the thought that it may even have the slightest bit of truth at it’s origin made me want to go punch the guy who maybe did it for sullying said good reputation.
