I agree but there is the INTENT factor. I do not think Stallworth intended to kill a man, when he stepped in his car. Vick intended to make animals suffer at his own hands at times. I really do not think you can compare the two.

but I HATE Stallworth and Ray Lewis too.

None of those quotes came from Vick. Why continue to hate on him?
Is he really good for the NFL brand, the guy was making money on dog fighting. I am surprised they didnt get him for some type of drug convection because they normally go together.

All the hate is on a personal note, NOT on his play on the field. Yes he did his time, BUT I gurantee that if any one of us go to prison we will not come back out get our jobs back and get a raise. Also be getting employee of the month or year.
As they say on that ESPN segment… C’MON MAN! There’s a ton of players out there that really aren’t good for the NFL brand. And as long as Vick keeps doing his work with kids and the Humane Societ, yes, I do think he can be more good than bad for the NFL brand in the long run.

As Print pointed out, Donte Stallworth killed a man and you don’t here half as much about him as you do Vick. I just don’t see the point of demonizing the guy when he admitted his mistakes and is doing everything to get past it on and off the field.

^HAHA!!! I just hope you like me Matty… (smiles & what not inserted here.)

As far as I’m concerned Stallworth had intent. He knows you shouldn’t be drinking & driving. It’s a death metal machine anytime someone gets behind the wheel drunk.

You have to let people live and learn, otherwise what’s the point of living? Humans make mistakes plain and simple.

I think it’s more prudent to judge someones actions after they have made a mistake or committed a sin. If they right their wrongs and become a better person, that’s as much as you can ask for. If they don’t learn and continue to do wrong, than the should be jailed permanently or outcast from society.

(Obviously there are exceptions that should be locked up permanently or given the death penalty on their first offense.)

^ I say negligence personally. While I dont do it now when I was in my 20’s I fucked up and drove drunk. Donte just got the ultimate situation and why us old guys dont do that shit anymore.

Yeah its a real slippery slope, have I ever stepped in a car under the influence of alcohol. If I killed a person I dont think I could live with myself which is why I wont do it anymore.

But Vick, ELECTROCUTED, DROWNED, USED A FAMILY DOG TO GET TORTURED BY FIGHTING DOGS, that is some crazy sadistic stuff right there. I know human nature is to learn the hard way and enviornment certainly can be attributed, but if he didnt get caught he wouldnt be a changed man, hes sorry because he was caught. Working with the Human Society and what not is Fraudulent IMO.

Yes sir it is, I know Drs who were basically drug pushers and users etc. Vick has done his time, he can do what he wants on the field. I just dont think the guy should get awards, his AWARD is getting to play and make more money in one year than most of us in our life time.

OK, how about a QB intending to get an underage girl drunk, have a body guard stand watch while he rapes her in the bathroom, entertain the cops with pictures and autographs while the bar cleans the bathroom and erases security tapes, then threaten to smear the young girl’s name so you can buy her silence?

I have no love for Vick, but the NFL is nothing but a bunch of fucking criminals anyway. If I’m Goodell I’m parading Vick out as the ultimate proof that rehabilitation works. Especially as the NFL reaches out to more and more female viewers, they need to have fans believing in the idea that just because a person made a “mistake” in the past does not mean he can’t make amends.

edit: and as Print says, I just hope you like me Matty… (smiles & what not inserted here.) Yours was just the easiest post to quote and I am not attacking you or your views. I could never blame a person for not forgiving Vick.
While I actually agree with most of your post, generalizing the whole NFL as a bunch of fucking criminals is not correct. They are public figures so everything they do is magnified, out of the 2600+ NFL players how many have been mentioned in here for true offenses? I would say that statistically the NFL has a lower percentage of law breakers than any other profession.

This thread needs to get back on track about how Mike Vick and the Eagles made McNabb and the Red Skinflutes look like a bunch of geriatric, chump bitches.

Agreed we went a little ESPN outside the lines. Thanks Steely. Yea and I hate the Eagles, Cowboys rule. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m liking a Jets v Eagles SB myself.

At this point yes I would agree so I can hope the Eagles lose.

Division Record (Off NFL.com)

Phily 1-1
Giants 1-1
Wash 2-1
Dallas 1-2

This is a closer race than people want to give credit.

^That’s why last nights game should of been a given for the Skins. They would of been 3-0 in the div. and swept Philly.

The saddest part of last night was Shanny had 2 weeks to prepare for this game & it looks like he spent more time getting faked baked & drinking bourbon.

^ He will just blame his fat, stupid, dark skinned QB (Yes I went there, I am starting a rumor Shanny has sheets in his closet with holes in it).

^LULZ!!!

So Sparano was saying last night that Thigpen the 3rd string qb & now de-facto starter for the fins has the moxey & the creativity of Romo. Sparano of course worked the def. for a few w/Parcells. Interesting how they’re gonna blow this kid up. Most likely will start the rest of the yr. Maybe?

^ He did okay in KC, hell just throw it to Marshall what do you have to lose. The guy caught everything but the clap in Denver.

On a side note could anyone recommend any good football books? I’ve read Friday Night Lights, The Blind Side, Next Man Up, Boys Will Be Boys: The Glory Days and Party Nights of the Dallas Cowboys, and You’re Okay its Just a Bruise and enjoyed them all greatly. The stock over here is limited but I can order them online.
