haven’t watched much of merriman in SD how’s his pass coverage? he could play a OLB role in a traditional 4-3?
^ Its shit, he is edge rusher and lateral run stopper. No way he can play in space and cover now with his knee. He has had some decrease in production and no way he goes to a scheme he has never played.

If he went to a 4-3 team he’d probably be used as a RDE. I’m not sure how well he’d hold up the POA vs the run though, so he might just be a situational pass rusher.
Bears are 4-3, he needs a 3-4 hybrid team like the Jets and Ravens. Some where he can go be a situational 50% plays guy. Hell maybe Arizona. And USMC more like covering like Betty White.

Not saying he couldnt, my thing is he has not played well since 2007. Why would a 4-3 team take a chance on him if he cant even produce in a 3-4 scheme.

The 49ers were actually giving him a look. We have a pretty good stable of LBs, but they might gamble on him to produce a rush off of the edge.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh told listeners on his weekly radio show, via The Sun, that he had spoken to general manager Ozzie Newsome on Tuesday about Merriman, whom the Chargers waived. Merriman played collegiately at Maryland.
