I don’t know about you fellas but I fucking hate this parity shit in the NFL this year.

I like it when there is a dominate team or two to really have a hate on for. I also think it’s important as a fan to have a team to be in awe of as well so when they lose it’s a big deal.

As much as I hate the the Pats, when they were on that hot streak I thought it was great entertainment.

Some of you guys here can put thoughts to words way better than I can.

I Repeat:I fucking hate parity…convince me it’s a good thing please.

The things that creates parity (free agency and the salary cap) are good things. There might not be any truly dominant teams this year, but there are still franchises that you know are always going to have a shot (PIT, NE, IND, etc) just because of how they are run.

My (our) team is good at drafting and working the cap, so I’m happy with the current system. The alternative (no salary cap) would not be good for the Steelers.

EDIT: It’s not a coincidence that the 3 teams I mentioned also have 3 of the best QBs in the NFL.
I admit I was being somewhat melodramatic in my post(I’m stressed out waiting for a start date on my new job) lol.

I do think the salary cap is a good thing, however I’m worried that in a couple years every team will be 9 and 7 at the end of the season.

And like others chimed in…$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ rules.

steelers are really good at talent scouts and drafting… every year no matter who retires, resigns, or leaves the team they put up a great team. look at their LB core… great talent through and through…

i just hope miami is doing the same… in the last three years the type of player to walk onto the field for miami is either a great role player or a solid player in their position… no more stop gaps… thank god.

He is insane, plain and simple.
I think he should stick to being a defensive co-ordinator.

What the Steelers have down to a science right now is converting DE’s in colledge into OLB’s in a 3-4 defence.

I can’t tell you how many articles over the years I’ve read where a free agent gets interviewed after signing and they can’t get over the locker room comraderie and how there are no cliques like other locker rooms.

Miami is almost there, a little luck and hello playoffs. Can’t remember the mame of the LB they got from the cards but that dude is gold. I read in an article this morning where Troy P said that Miami’s offence was the most patient he’s faced this year, which is a good thing I believe.

Even if every team started the season equally in terms of talent and coaching, the randomness of injuries alone is enough to ensure that there will be some bad teams. If there are bad teams, there HAVE to be good teams.

yea dansby has been a huge pick up… alot of people were screaming overrated but when a FA comes in and takes a captain position and is 28… that really says something… if we can tighten up the corners on the outside and get the D-line right… we’ll be right there…

the offense has been looking solid compared to years past… 2 years ago we needed the wildcat to spark some offense… this year u can see that the fins are moving away from it… i think henne can be a big time qb but right now u can’t put the game on his shoulders and tell him to win it ala manning, roethlisberger, etc but he’s growing…

Fuck…that never occured to me, injuries can kill a team in a heartbeat.

Mostly at the QB level, if Peyton goes down, Indy is fucked. Cowboys were already fucked but with Romo down they are double penetrated fucked.

It’s a mindset. Plain & simple. He has them believing & that is 90% of this game. Doesn’t matter how you win, just believe you can & you will. The passion Raheem exudes rubs off & covers a lot of their shortcomings. We all know once you start winning it becomes a snowball after that.

Simple isn’t it?

Completely agree. He’s a great motivator, but just doesn’t have what it takes to coach an entire team and manage every facet of play.

I want the 49ers to hire Jason Garret away from the 'Boys.

Troy Polamalu on the recent league rumblings about helmet to helmet hits (have to play the audio interview; it’s worth a listen):

Please tell me you are joking? WC believe me man you do NOT want Garret, after this year when he gets fired he will not be an OC for a while.

I think he could be good as a HC. I think Jerry Jones controls and affects far more than we know behind the scenes. Also, when your upgrading from Singletary anybody looks pretty good.

Just to give you my background: I grew up in Colleyville (right near Arlington) and I HATED the cowboys. Seriously, I can’t explain my excessive loathing for them except for the fact that I was inundated by their propaganda. But, living in Texas, I wanted badly to cheer for a Texas team.

Then, in 2000 I moved to Houston. Not much longer and the Houston Texans were formed, and then i found a team to cheer for. Granted, we had some rough years, but this year doesn’t seem to suck as badly.

Singletary is a phsyco, BUT I think with an actually NFL QB things would have been different.

I disagree. He doesn’t have the knowledge to be a head coach. I think keeping Raye around way to long really hurt us, but that was Singletary’s decision, and he didn’t get rid of him until he was pretty much forced to.

Singletary is a great motivator and that’s it. He gets lost out there, gets stuck in situations that he has no idea how to handle, and would be much better suited as the LB coach or maybe DC, if he learned a little more about coaching.

Great players don’t always make the greatest coaches. You can’t simply ‘yell’ a team to success.

Pretty much yeah. I haven’t participated in the sports threads around here. I have a reason for my fanaticism is all.

You could totally be right, I just figured it’s easier to learn how to be a coach with an Elway, Akiman, Manning, Brady etc…

No stress from that position and a strong leader there seems to help people be better coaches.

BUT, you could be right, and he could have been given Joe Montana and still fucked it up…

I defer to your judgment, you are much more familiar with the team.
