New to T-Nation?

my name is john and i live in kansas city. i’ve been reading articles on this site for a good six months, so i figured i’d just join up. the information on here is just too good (and i wanted to order some supplements).

i’ve been training martial arts in one way or another for eleven years. i spent a lot of time ignoring the weight room and never running. needless to say, i was/am a scrawny weakling. i’m not concerned with how i look or how much i weigh or how wide my biceps are… i am only concerned with raw strength.

i have been lifting heavy for about two weeks now. i put together a simple, multi-joint exercise program that i based on the starting strength protocol. it’s really fun.

thanks for having me.

Finally found a helpful site… My name is Marc, 25 years old, im pretty much a total beginner trying to really get into shape and build some nice muscle with no clue of what im doing… I bought a 300lb bench set about 2 or 3 months ago and maxed it out, but all ive done was bench press, I never lifted in school or anything before now, seems like i have no problem putting on muscle, i know i started at 185 max on my bench and i can do 300 now, ran out of weights but im wanted a full body workout and im pretty sure doing bench press and biking isnt going to do it all for what i want. Any helpful information or tips in the right direction would be awesome, Thanks for looking at this!

Hi, I am new here too! Just started with Starting Strength Novice program 2 weeks ago. Looking forward to share more and learn more from this website/forum.

I feel like I’m at an AA meeting…“hi my name is…”

Yeah, been lurking for years, literally years…what’s taken me so long?
This was the husbands domain and I always looked over his shoulder.
Now he’s the ex-husband and I figure I should come out of lurkdom and step up to the plate.

Don’t expect anyone to give a damn 'bout a newbie but that’s fine, cheers to me.

To all the righteous dudes and voluptuous vixens of T-Nation, allow me to introduce myself. Where I come from I’m known as Brometheus, the party bringer, but I also respond to the slightly-less-totally-badass name Nick. I started training a little over 2 years ago at 6’ tall, 150 lbs, and probably ~15% BF. These days I’m sitting at 183, ~9% BF and still 6’ tall unfortunately :stuck_out_tongue: First 6 months or so I did WS4SB, then I proceeded to dick around for about another 6-8 months foolishly chasin teh hawt abz before I got my shit together, stopped ‘working out’ and started really training. I went onto a high intensity body part split for a while, and now for the last 6 months or so I’ve been messing around with CT’s HT muscle building.

The stats
Deadlift 345x3
ATG Squat 265x3
Bench 205x3
Chins +45x5
Military press 135x3

Aside from chasing the pump I’m trying to get my real estate career off the ground, I effin love good house music, was a psych major at Santa Clara University, and I like candlelit dinners and long walks on the beach. You probably think I’m kidding about that last part, but I’m totally not so lemme say that again: I fucking love romantic candlelit dinners and long walks on the beach, sooooo laaaaaaadies…? Hahaha okay I think thats enough of that, time to go hill sprint methinks.

Brometheus OUT!

New to the site not so much to lifting. Im 22 6’2" 235-240 im currently a senior linebacker at the University of South Alabama. Found this site looking for supplements and have become somewhat addicted lol Ive always been interested in getting into powerlifting after my football career comes to an end and this seems to be as good a place as any to learn.

Hello everyone. To be honest, I was looking at some photos of some very curvy women and saw the link to this page. However, I was not aware that this is a body building/body sculpting site…that is a good thing because I am currently working on conditioning and weight lifting. I am 37, 6’3", 265lbs.

My biggest obstacle is burning fat. I lift but I do not do any cardio in an out of the gym…minus the bedroom and work. After reading some of the posts, I am going to start lifting lighter and increasing my reps, being that I was lifting opposite of that. I do not take any supplements and am kinda food concious, but I do try to eat healthy. Any other advice on fat loss would be helpful…thanks.

Hey lads, I’ve been lurking this site for a very long time now and have already discovered that this is a gold mine as far as information goes. I’m 6’ 3-4", about thirteen stone and have just broke a very bad cannabis addiction. I can safely say I feel better than I have in years, health is my new addiction and my goal is packing on the weight and muscle (something I have already seen progress in the 1 month of freedom from drugs). So yeah, time to get out there and pick a few brains!

Thanks for the great site!

I hope I dont get beaten up for this. I am just here to introduce myself. I dont know if there is a thread for that. If there is and i just didn’t read it then sorry for being lazy lol

I am not a body builder just like forums. My ex used to go on this site religiously and get in fights in the political section and was just obsessed. And he got our other friend to sign up and so decided to too. Im just a fan of muscley manly men. Thats it. I do work out a lot but not weight lifting really. I hope you allow chicks who just like to look. Peace.

Wow so i now found the beginners forum after having posted in other forums introducing myself. That’s what i get for being lazy and not reading the rules.

Just a fan. not realy a body builder. Just appreciate big guys

Need some help/advice making a mass building workout routine any ideas?

Best site for anything to do with physical excercise EVER!!!

I am a new member and arrived with many questions. But knowing how irritating it is to have someone post a question that has been already answered in the forums, often several times, I am taking the time to search through as well as I can. I have already found most of my stuff answered and more thoroughly than I could have hoped. Thanks to everyone here!

I am thinking I need to give my basic stats before I post any question for any topic, but not totally certain about the best way, or place, to do it. But I just found this thread so I’ll do so here, and hopefully it is ok. So I’ll give some general background and current condition, etc. Here are my basic stats: age 57, 6ft, 160lbs, total T: 1335 (Quest). No test yet for E but will get soon as possible. I give these numbers since my main interest (and questions) are about T related stuff: TRT, etc. I have recent blood work numbers but from reading here I know I need several things read I do not have yet. Will post those in appropriate forum, etc.

I am musician, professional since age 13. I was introduced to resistance training at around age 20 by a friend who was knowledgeable and very serious about training. But I later fell victim to some of the more unhealthy temptations of the artist/musician life: drugs, etc. So, I got out of training for several years and back into it about 10 years ago, about age 47. Somehow it did not take as long as I thought (for that age) to at least get in basic shape and I have worked hard since. A major change came when I began TRT about 8 years ago. I began with transdermal gel, Testim, since my insurance totally covers it. I got great results very fast. Before that I had seen little results from my weight training, although I was using good form and protocols. With T I quickly gained more muscle mass, lost more body fat, great rise in libido, etc… the expected stuff with T replacement. One of the most intense benefits was not physical but rather mental. I had been having depression, sometimes severe, for a few years and T not only helped, it dispelled the depression entirely. This was unexpected but greatly appreciated! I am still having good results but a few issues, which brought me here. I am just amazed at the level of info and also great camaraderie I have found here. So I want to respect everyone and try to follow protocols, etc.

I’ll wait to give specifics about the issues I am having and post on the appropriate forums, threads, etc., which I feel sure is the Pharma, T Replacement section of the Forums. So, I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks to all here for offering this info and your time and experience. Stevie

Hello all, been lurking for quite some time and decided to finally join. I needed somewhere to post my horrible form :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been training for 1.5 years but most of the time my form sucked and I didn’t commit

20 years old

Squat 145 x 3
Deadlift 140 x 3
Bench 80 x 5

I’m working towards becoming a powerlifter, so I focus on the big 3 and assistance exercises.
A bit delayed but thanks too all the amazing articles you guys pump out.
Lurker no more!
