So im wanting to start my first cutting cycle but dont know which is best. Im roughly 275 at 21% BF and also wondering how long to wait between a cut and a bulk cycle.
We’ve had a lot of folks find success with the Velocity Diet. At 21% bodyfat, that’s a great place to start
At 21% bf you don’t need drugs to cut. Just proper diet. Once you start to get very lean is where gear is beneficial to hold on to muscle. You have quite a ways to go before that’s an issue.
Why not start a. Log in the training log section and tag me and we can get your diet squared away.
As far as time between. I’ll and cut there really is no set time. I would slowly work my way down to Maintinance cals for a while. Once at Maintinance I would sit there for at least 3-4 weeks then start with a 200cal drop or so. You don’t wanna drop too much too fast. You’ll get into a bad place with no more runway to drop cals way before you get to your goal.
Not really much else here without much more input from you
So i did the carnivore diet for a month but with where i was at food was very limited(deployment) so i just went to eating roughly 1800cals a day with strength training Monday-Saturday roughly 45min of nonstop exercise. I dropped 4% bf in a month doing that. Its just getting frustrated because i know i lost 4% but it doesnt feel like i have. I get gaining muscle and such. I know my lean muscle mass rn is roughly 205lbs. Im trying to loss enough weight and cut enough to feel comfortable with my body to have my shirt off and or not buying a size bigger shirts
Congrats on a good start!
I’d recommend cutting first. At 21% and 275 lbs you would be 219 lbs lean, so I think you have more to lose than you think.
For the first step, just cutting out the obvious crap is the goal.
Don’t drink any calories except protein shakes, have a protein, healthy fat, and veg/fruit at every meal. Nothing from a drive through, no sweet stuff, no booze - you’ll see fast progress.
Oh im also 6’1.
I quiet drinking calories last year. Besides from zero sugar energy drinks. I mainly stick to water, my energy drinks here an there and coffee and protein shakes.
Drugs are not gonna help here. Your eating way to little cals. You’re messing up your metabolic rate.
Start a log. Post some pics along with your current diet and training.
You are on the wrong path.
What was your deployment like that you could manage carnivore. I would starve if I tried that on the ship. (I’m 13 years Navy)
how do you find that?
Math.
275 lbs ÷ 100 = 2.75 lbs
100% weight - 21% bf = 79% lean mass
79 x 2.75 = 217.25 lbs lean mass
I rounded up because bw and nutritional math is always fluffy in how it actually turns out.
But I’m skeptical of the numbers provided.
I was in the middle east so i basically ate eggs and sausage in the morning and lunch and dinner was usually fish and chicken and sometimes lobster tails if we got lucky and steak. I got lucky to be deployed where i was at and who i got attached with. Lived very nice there, minus the missles flying over us and landing near us and drones
I’m around the same size at 6’5 280 so that would put me around 217.7ish. Interesting
oh yeah i was on the aircraft carrier shooting drones down
Red or Med sea?
Red. Was on the Ike with VFA-105
Ahh. I just got back from the middle east lil earlier than planned due to medical issues.
I’m 6’4 and got up to 280 at my strongest, then had to get down to sub 220 to see abs. Now I just comfortably float at around 240 and enjoy working out and healthy food.
Oh nice, I got down to 255 when i posted in the transformation 2024 last year with the top 4 abs poking through haha. I’d be happy around 245-250.
It is a mathematical calculation that shows the percentage of his 275lbs that is not fat. Note that this does not mean that he has 217lbs of muscle. And it is only as good as the accuracy of the input numbers. Measuring percent body fat is a very imprecise process. Some measuring methods are more accurate than others.
