New Supplement

I was just reading this article over on elitefts: http://www.elitefts.com/documents/clt.htm

and was wondering if anyone knows anything about it? The article was interesting but was very short. Though it does sound very cool. What would the implications of more androgen receptors be?

Interested in this as well. For what its worth, I’m taking 2g a day now, which is the same amount Kreamer et al used in their studies. I don’t know how this 2g was administered during the day, however, so I’ve usually been taking 500mg with meals, or sometimes 1g before and after workouts.

There are probably more details regarding carnitine supplementation in Barr’s Anabaolic Index.

One thing that left my kind of puzzled though - Barr speaks of acetyl-L-carnitine having a different structure and all that, and then mentions “if you’ve tried ‘carnitine’ supplements in the past…” which sort of implies the see of acetyl-L-carnitine for fat loss…

…now, carnitine supplements have been around for a while, but to my knowledge acetyl-l-carnitine is somewhat newer, and its main supplementation use seems to be cognition improvement and anti-aging. I thought the traditional carntines sold
(or rather, marketed) for fat loss were L-carnitine fumarate, or tartrate.

What I’m getting at is that to my knowledge L-carnitine-L-tartrate isn’t that new of a supplement.

I dont know about how “new” it is, even though ive used the term. I saw the acetyl compound before this one, for fatloss. So i just kinda assumed. Maybe its just a perspective issue depending on market penetration, etc.

Can i ask how long you have been taking it? I think the whole more androgen receptor issue is really really cool. The average weight lifter having slightly lower testosterone, etc could be compensated for with… more receptors. But its not my area. Hence this thread.

Not very long now - a couple of weeks.

And I am taking it for its potential androgen receptor upregulation and recovery purposes.

I have noticed nothing earth shattering yet, nor do I expect to; I am progressing, and am just throwing this in there as one more tool in the toolbox to see if it makes a difference at all.

I wonder if it upregulates the androgen receptors in the scalp.

DB sent that out in his newsletter about a month ago. Looks like some interesting possibilities.

ALCAR does EVERYTHING that L-carnitine does PLUS more…ALCAR crosses the blood-brain barrier and has an effect on dopamine production and mental alertness. It also helps with fatloss.
