I am looking at building a better supplement and diet routine, but am gettting bogged down in the Myriad of supplement names and types available. As you will see I am a fan of Charles Poliquin’s recommendations but am struggling to match his recommendations with his actual product dosages.
Before training (on an empty stomach before solids and pre workout creatine BCAA’s etc) I take a pre-mixed capsule of: 250mg Levocarnitine, 100mg Taurine, 20mg Ubidecarenone (q10.)
I take this because Charles Poliquin recommended Acetyl-l-Carnitine to increase dopamine activity in the brain. He recommended no less than 3 grams (Clearly 250mg is too little) of Acetyl-l-carnitine.
I am seriously bogged down in all these names. what is the difference between:
Levocarnitine and Acetyl-l-carnitine? are they different? I am not too fussed about the fat buring properties of this product but really am using it for dopamine activity in the brain.
Also the dosage is somewhat confusing. Poliquin recommends NO LESS THAN 3grams as “anything less is not worth it” yet his own Brain Vitale product contains only 500mg per recommended serve.
Can anyone out there clarify the following:
What is the difference between Levocarnitine and Acetyl-l-carnitine? ie did I just buy the wrong (and expensive)product?

Thanks Phill,
Yes google is a good source. Would be easier to have it summarised by someone who’s been there and read that though:)
Will post up anything I find out on this site for you as the info comes to hand. Also looking into Phosphatidylserine on another thread and did a good google search on that one. if your interested check it out “pondering phosphatidylserine”.

Phill
