Acetyl L-Carnitine Timing

for those of you who are either taking acetyl L-carnitine or have in the past; how did you schedule the timing?

full stomach, with food, empty stomach?

also, how much did you take? (in g or mg)
…if you can answer that; what are your stats? (height/weight)

thanks in advance!

I read a Barrticle where he said to take l-carnitine l-tartrate, that in some way it increased the amount of androgen receptors, so I’ve been taking 2 g in the morning before breakfast and then 2 grams an hour before gym, both on an empty stomach an hour before food. So far havent noticed a whole lot, which was the case with acetyl-l-carnitine, maybe I didnt/am not taking enough?

I’ve taken a ton of supplements and I’m starting to believe that the only supplement that really works is something called busting your ass. I don’t believe they sell it in “pill” form, however

I used to take it in liquid form, 3g first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, sometimes even with a serving of Power Drive (3g Acetyl l Tyrosine). I did not notice any benefit.

There was an article where TC writes what he’s learned from Poliquin (it must be a late 90s article, it’s very old but still around) and in it he writes about taking 3g of Acetyl l Carnitine before a workout.

Well, I’m definatly taking teh ‘busting your ass’ supplement on a 4x a week basis!

i’m taking about 3g a day; empty stomach…

figured i’d give it a shot…

anyone else got some info??

I’ve heard of people taking 6-7 g of Acetyl-l-carnitine/day, typically before a workout. It could be one of those things, like BCAA, that you need to take a TON of to see benefits

Acetyl only works if its taken exactly 2 min before waking up in the morning

Here is the rundown on acytl-l-carnatine

2,400 mg of the Acetyl-l-Carnitine (ALCAR). is a good dose.

Here is some other info I was able to find on it.1. What is it and where does it come from?

Acetyl-L-carnitine is a dietary supplement, and the acetyl ester of L-carnitine, is used to support a healthy memory. It occurs naturally in animal products. Chemically, acetyl-L-carnitine is known as beta-acetoxy-gamma-N, N, N-trimethylaminobutyrate. Other names for acetyl-L-carnitine include: acetyl-levocarnitine, acetylcarnitine, l-acetylcarnitine, levacecarnine, and ST-200.

  1. What does it do and what scientific studies give evidence to support this?
Acetyl-L-carnitine may support healthy cardiac function. It may have antioxidant and anti-apoptotic activity.

Learn more about the benefits of ALC on Clayton South’s Health Facts.

  1. Who needs it and what are some symptoms of deficiency?
Acetyl-L-carnitine levels may decrease with advancing age. However, because it is not an essential nutrient, true deficiencies do not occur.

  2. How much should be taken? Are there any side effects?
Most research involving acetyl-L-carnitine has used 500 mg three times per day, though some research has used double this amount. You should consult with your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse about how much acetyl-L-carnitine you should take. The dosage depends on the strength of the medicine and the reason you are taking acetyl-L-carnitine.

If you are using acetyl-L-carnitine without first consulting your caregiver, follow the directions on the label. Do not take more acetyl-L-carnitine or take it more often than what is written on the directions.

The new ACTar from the barticle sounds like it would be a better choice:
