Not sure how it got started that im a vegan. True, I rarely if ever eat meat, but i eat alot of eggs, protein shakes of course. pasta. and on occasion, i will have a hamburger. I’m just not a huge fan of killing other beings for food. I realize people have been doing it for years.

What i have the biggest problem with is sport hunting. Like some actor going to africa and killing elephants and lions, just for the hell of it. that angers me to no end. If i killed that persons family, im sure he would be pissed. But its ok to kill an animal. that animal doesn’t have a family?
As an avid hunter and person who worked my way through college at a meat rendering plant I can tell you without a doubt that meat is the tastiest thing on earth and killing it your self is satisfying on a level the scares some people.

As for sport hunting, I realize on the surface that it sounds cruel but it brings a lot of money to certain regains of Africa and by making the elephant valuable (ie. $10,000) to the government the government protects them. In some countries the only reason the government doesn’t let farmers mow down herds of water buffalo with machine guns is because rich gits from other countries will pay handsomely to have the honor of shooting just one.

In summation: hunters conserve wildlife.
Also very good points.

Thats not what CNN or Peta say you liar.

What Derek said. My whole family hunts and we eat just about everything. I love having a freezer full of venison, plus it ends up being a fraction of the cost of beef even after you factor in the tags, ammo, gas, butcher etc.

I can understand about the big game trophy hunting though. Most of the time there’s no sport involved, you pay a shitload of money and some sketchy Africans put you within rifle range of a “wild” animal. I am generally against guys who use a bunch of feeders and salt licks and crap like that too.

we have to live and to me I would rather we give respect to our food. Not sport hunting, but actually one shot one kill and eat all the meat. Grass fed free ranch cattle that have a “normal” existence until they are killed for there meat humanely.

My parents have a hundred acre ranch and raise beef masters cattle. So we actually practice what I am preaching.

I agree. But I no longer try to reason it out. We can’t all be hunters we can’t all be Tradesman. We all have to eat. And that is a whole lot of mouths.

But before I point a finger and someone and tell them something is “BAD” I BETTER check my house first or be ready to be called on my own BS. You can’t have it both ways.

If you eat eggs unless you have your own chickens and letting them sleep to Biggie smalls every night and rubbing the eggs out of them and giving them a kiss before you take it you can’t really say how that bird was treated that gave that egg up.

So either stop eating it or STFU on it.

Oh and I had a 5 eggs this morning.

Agreed. I love chickens, we had a bunch when I was growing up, fresh eggs are awesome.

Someday I will have my own ranch again. That is for retirement. Like Pushes place without the Canadian border.

The second part is fair…but in many countries (including Kenya, Uganda and Namibia according to the Wildlife Conservation Society) hunting companies are heavily taxed and the revenue helps keep the local economies going.

Quite a bit of the hunting tag revenue is used to maintain the national parks and animal populations.

I agree with you, somewhat, lol. It has always bothered me, since i was a kid. I could never go to a zoo or circus or anything where i felt animals were being treated unfairly. Circus’ are notorious for treating especially elephants very cruel.

I am pretty sure your joking but I will expand on the subject because I am adamant about it.

Hunters in the US (National Forestry Department withstanding) contribute more each year then any other group in the world to the conservation on wildlife habitat. Groups like Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Quail Forever, etc. donate money just to see habitat preserved. Not to mention that each year hunters buy a license, habitat stamps, water fowl tags, fur bearers license, or big game tags all of which goes to create jobs for wildlife/hunting enforcement agencies as well as habitat.

People who bitch about hunters don’t understand simple economics. If hunters want to spend money and time to have a hobby involving a particular animal, the government has an incentive to protect that animal. That incentive gives that animal a higher value which leads to habitat conservation. Look at the price of a first season elk/bear hunt.

Have to ask Ink but do they not also donate the meat to local villages to eat? I really doubt they leave the carcass out for the buzzards and feral dogs.

Oh man its Texas, we have a few gun safes with thousands of rounds.

End of the world scenarios I am high tailing it to the Ranch.

I grew up fishing and hunting and eating ALL of the meat that a particular animal provided and I never had a problem with it BUT “sport” hunting just does not cut it man…their is no “sport” in lining up an animal in the crosshair’s and pulling a trigger. Now, if you want to go all caveman with a knife and spear I probably would not object if the fatass hunter could actually chase down its dinner…

On a side note, FOX news question of the day was: If you had to kill for your daily meat (beef, pork, chicken, fish) could you? 67% of foxnews listeners could NOT ! How ironic is that !
Let someone else do their dirty work for them…mmm ?
