By the way that lift is amazing. My body would disintegrate under that bar.

is it better to piss far, Vegita-san, or have your weasel fall into the toilet every time you try?

Well if I was trapped by a fire and had to put it out by pissing on it, I’d have to go with piss far, cause with a big long weasel, it would get too close to the flames and get burned…
Ok it’s friday afternoon, and i’m starting to derail.

I can’t explain it to someone who has never used gear, as most “bodybuilders” or fitness guys on this thread have not, don’t knock it unless you have tried it. It’s not the be all end all of benching. It is more like an ergogenic aid and means of protection. I’m not going to try to explain this anymore as people will jump down my throat. I’m out.[/quote]

I think raw lifting is most impressive. I know a lot of people who believe raw lifting is more impressive. Kind of like the distinction between natural bodybuilding and using roids.
I honestly never understood why powerlifting competitions are not done only raw. I mean, am I the only one who believes a real lift is a raw lift, honestly? All the gears they use seems ridiculous to me. What’s gonna be next, lifting underwater to reduce gravitational force?

Some olympic weight lifter or something. Why should that change my opinion on why I wear a bench shirt?

Inzer and Titan are two reasons Pl events are not done raw. Money talks and hosting a PL event is not cheap.
It seems ridiculous to you, because you are not a powerlifter. I think admiring mens bodies and following pro bodybuilding is gay.I also don’t call you guys fags on all the motivating physique and powerful image threads when you are lusting after all these guys. So, the bottom line is, if you don’t like powerlifting gear don’t use it, and until you have suited up your opinion means shit. I think all these posing trunks are ridiculous. What’s gonna be next, assless trunks for the post show private pose downs?

You really are an idiot.
BTW, if at your age you have real pain just warming up to bench…you’ve got real trouble and obviously don’t know how to train.
Right, right…I just don’t understand what’s the difference if I suited up or not. You obviously could not find a counter argument to my critique so you felt the need to ridicule pro bodybuilding which had absolutely nothing to do with this thread. So whatever man, I still think it should all be done raw. You’re right, I am not a powerlifter and it does not interest me b/c of all the gear they wear but don’t you think they would reach a greater audience if they lifted raw? Also, why do you think Strong Man competitions are a lot more popular than powerlifting competitions?

That’s fine that you think that, but you obviously haven’t read this thread if you don’t understand where the gear came from.
No. Even less sponsors without the equipment companies. And it’s not like America is exactly clamoring for olympic lifting, and that’s all raw. Much more money is getting paid out for geared lifting compared to raw lifting. People vote with cash.
Please tell me you’re not trying to say that strongman is more popular than powerlifting because it’s done raw. The first problem is that it’s not raw at all. They wear squat suits, knee wraps/sleeves, and even straps. Not even close to raw.
Strongman is more popular because the average Joe can relate to it. To the average guy, a 400, 500, or 600 pound bench all sounds heavy, and he has no conception of how heavy it really is relative to other poundages. However, when people see cars, anchors, buses, etc. getting moved, they have a conception of how heavy those objects are and get a better idea of the strength being displayed. Not to mention the fact that strongman is more interesting to watch for the average fan (this is coming from a powerlifter).

Don’t tell me I don’t know how to train. I’m 19, 242 lbs. and have put up 550 lbs. in competition. I’d say I’m doing pretty good for myself.
True!
Gotta admit the Strongman argument was not too strong from my part. Sorry 'bout that.
Guess you guys are right, I should not have a definite opinion about something I haven’t experienced.
But man, that lift was impressing!!!

also, i know who keith is, I read his articles and posts all the time, just not into olympic weightlifting…you can say whatever you want about me but dont ever tell me i don’t know how to train ever again.

Do you know if he would have not torn his pec had he worn a bench shirt? No you don’t.

did I say otherwise?

Keith isn’t just some olympic lifter.
If you’re 19 and have “real pain” warming up without a bench shirt, you’ve got problems.
I’m not necessarily saying you don’t know how to bench, merely that you don’t know how to train.
When you get to be 30 or so and can’t raise your arms above shoulder level, remember this conversation.
I don’t care whether you wear a shirt or not.
I just don’t think someone who’s as much of an idiot as you should be bustin’ on people who don’t.
“One of the countries best SHW juniors just suffered a pec tear, when lifting raw.”
Given the nature of the topic, your above mentioned statement would imply that you believe that somehow this SHW junior tore his pec because he lifted raw, and that he would have been saved by wearing a bench shirt.

You know when you are benching 500-600 lbs. ,shirted, and raw with boards and lockouts, every single week late in a training cycle you are going to have some aches and pains and i have learned to keep it to minimum. Don’t be a jackass by commenting on a kind of training that you have no clue about, I don’t.
