New PR's

Started doing front squats today, worked up to 115 for 5, didn’t wanna go heavier just to learn the pattern and teach my CNS first, but some PR’s should be coming in the front squat department soon.

Weighed in at 185 today is my actual PR though, haha

Sidenote: Anyone have any good techniques or tips for keeping from getting the shit choked out of you while doing front squats? I’ll likely be using a clean grip, that’s what’s been feeling the best thus far[/quote]

Get a bigger upper chest and front delta. It’ll create more shelf for the bar to sit up a bit higher so its not just resting straight on your throat… I know that’s easier said than done though. Can also try a cross arms or the strap hold method I use that maximizes the self you do have and would help abit but I don’t have this problem anymore the one thing strongman has given me are some over developed front delta lol.

Honestly, I think you just need to front squat more. At first it feels like it’s choking you, especially if you go for higher reps. I just go used to it without doing much in particular. Now that I’m doing heavier front squats, it just feels like it’s suffocating me. By that I mean that it used to hit my throat and make it hard to breath. Now it’s just pressing on my lungs and making it hard to breath. I figure that is something you just suck up and get stronger.

165X10 close grip floor press
165X11 strict snatch grip 90 degree bent over row
185X24 barbell shrug with 3 second hold

Some of today’s personal records :).

Never had any issues with getting choked while using the clean grip, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about using straps. Makes me want to try it out.

Incline DB Benched the 75lbs DBs x 6.

More delts and chest it is then. haha.

Today’s: Bench 185 for 8,7,7
First set was easy, probably had 10

Yeah, definitely took that vid into consideration when I picked the clean grip; I have pretty flexible wrists/triceps (but small front delts haha)

One of those awesome days where you can just keep going…

Bench
195x5x5

Assisted GHR
6,7,10!
my previous PR was 3 x 6

Indv. Pull down
220 x 3 x 1.5
Oddly, this is the same as my chindown ATM.

high bar medium stance squat 280X3
snatch grip deadlifts 275X7
clean grip rear lunge 100X12
shovel deadlift 90X11

The squat is a 5 pound PR (I tried for a 10 pound but I took too little rest :frowning: ) with better form than the old personal best.

good shit man you’re killing it lately.

Front squats 3X5 @ 135, 1X5 @ 145, 1X5 @ 155. Front squats feel good so far.

Thanks. I’ve actually been getting hit a little hard with the heat this late spring. (bad headaches, and having to drinking a few gallons of water…)

BW is 150
got 225x5 on deadlifts as well as 100x5 on overhead press

Kristi hitting a 135lbs Squat at 130lbs bodyweight. She finally hit over body weight and bought her singlet getting in gear for her first meet I can’t wait to see it. She’s hoping for a 150 Squat, 100lbs Bench, and 185 Deadlift.

270lbs Very Long Pause Bench Press. This was my touch and go max at 240 bodyweight 4 months ago.

300lbs Touch and Go Bench Press massive PR.

255X15 ultra wide sumo lol I suck horribly at these
225X12 sumo stance romanian deadlift
145X4 suitcase deadlift

Yeah… My glutes are piss poor weak, and my hamstrings/back are very strong in comparison.

OHP
175 x 2 x 3 + change
Going for 5 x 3.

Assisted GHR
3 x 10
Too bad this is likely my last GHR.

Ind. Chindown
227.5 x 3 x 1.5

DB Suppine Roll
50 x 3 x 10

Pullups BW +50: 3 sets of 6,5,4
BB shrugs 245X15 3 sec hold (honestly felt like as much grip as trap work)

Bench
205 x 1 x 5

'Dem traps… I hit 185X25 for shrugs with a 3 second hold yesterday (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi, ect to count the seconds). How much do you deadlift now with grip/traps like that?

Today’s: Dips BW +45 2X10
DB Shoulder Press 55’s for 9 last set

Nice on the 325X3! I just deadlifted my heaviest weight since I injured my back that I mentioned here.

conventional deadlift 335X3/345X2, I felt like I had a third rep in me after the second rep, but I felt burnt out and couldn’t even budge it off the floor (I couldn’t even do that to the back off set of 275 I was wanting to do either)

romanian deadlift 275X8 think I got this, or a couple inches from it (bar FELL out of hands)

clean grip rear lunges 105X12

shovel deadlifts 95X3
