Holy crap it looks like a torture device…I always knew people from NH were a little different!
You’re too kind. We’re actually a lot different. Especially those of us born and raised here.

Nice benching and squatting. Question…what is the powertec? Is that a power rack? Smith? machine?
Squats and front squats were killing my lower back shooting pain down my left leg so I stopped doing them. I recently dusted this thing off and found it doesn’t hurt my lower back too much. So instead of no squatting I use this thing.
Nice! And you just happened to have this laying around? Unused?
I wish I had junk like that…lol.
10-15 years ago my wife bought me a bowflex and I bought myself the powertec squat thing. Both sat idle until recently. Now I’m old and like the machine exercises more than I used to.

3 mile walk
8/12
- powertec squats 135x10,225x10,315x10,405x10
- trap bar deads 135x5,225x5,315x2,355x5,405x3,455x6
3a. powertec calf raise 225x15,15,15
3b. ab rolls BWx10,10,10
One more workout and I’m switching it up a little.
I miss trap bar deads…not in Carter’s program…damn it…yours are looking solid BTW.
You know, your log really does make it sound so easy. I am not sure if it is the personality that I have ascribed to you or just the numbers you consistently do. But “455x6” or “405x10”…yawn.
Great strength…

Thanks Skip. Like yourself I post to keep myself honest and share in the joy of training with like minded people. That’s all.

I was out walking the streets again last night. 3 miles with my oldest son. He chewed my ear off talking about paintball and hockey.
Your powertec machine is very similar to the hammer strength machine I talk about that can be used for either calves or presses. And walks with sons are the best work out you can ever get.

I haven’t used it for presses but that is a great idea. Thanks.
How are your boys doing? You’ve got two adult sons, right? You’re not a grand daddy yet are you?

315x10…405x10…495x10…like I said, you make it seem easy.
MP for 200x11! That’s what I’m talkin’ 'bout!
I’ll ignore the chin-ups…

No belt and deads were semi-sumo. This one of Paul Carter’s strong-15 workouts. I’m glad I kept things light because I haven’t deadlifted in a while and my legs already feel it.

I like this strong 15 workout. When I hit 15 reps with 275 I will up my max from 365 to 375. The 1 rep max calculator I use puts my max at 413. I hope its right.
Nice work, Steve.
Strong 15… Something new to check out!

Thanks Skip. I’m hoping this gets my numbers out of the rut they’ve been is for a few years now.
Ahh, it looks like you are doing the 50% set at the end of bench work!! and as always the lifts look solid!

Hey good to see you Paul. You’re correct I’m using the 50% trick. See if it works for me.
8/23
- trap bar deadlift 135x5,205x5,250x4,300x3,385x2,425x1,365x18 (60 sec rest) 365x5
- powertec squats 135x10,225x10,315x10,405x10,495x10
- powertec calf raise 225x20
I had planned on several sets of calf raises and ab rolls but I was spent.
I’ll be 44 tomorrow. I’m already chubby and bald so no much can change. Maybe a little more white in my beard.
Happy Birthday Steve! You finally caught up to me on the one thing I am ahead of you on!
It’s gonna be a great year!
