New Hampshire Lifter

Thanks Skip. I’m sitting in Manchester NH regional airport. Flying out to Rochester Minnesota for several days. Got a workout in this morning. T-handle swings are a lot tougher than I thought they were going to be.

10/12
T-handle swings 52.5x2x20
Cleans 135x2,155x1,175x1,195x1,205x1,215x1,235x1,155x5x1
Semi sumo deads 225x2,315x2,405x2,455x2
Regular deads 405x1,315x5x1
T-handle swings 52.5x10,15,25,15

Please tell us, after using them for a while, if you think the t-handle swings are improving your cleans or other weight(Olympic style) lifting lifts.

I will GV. My hamstrings ache a bit today. Keeping this exercise in the rotation.

Nice deads, Steve.

Thanks Skip.

I’m in Rochester, Minnosota for a few days so I found a local YMCA.

2a. MP 135x5x10

Solid road work. Isn’t Minnesota PeteS’s neck of the woods?

Thanks jack. Not sure about Pete. I’ll have to shoot him a message. See where he’s located.

Steve, is there a method to the bench progression? Or are you playing it by ear?

135x50 on MP will put a burn in your delts. Nice chin-ups.

No rhyme or reason. An out if town workout. Chin ups were so easy I wish I would have seen his many I could have done. I had at least 15 in me.

Nice work YOUNG man!! nice little “on the road” session…thats good chin work

Great work in here Steve.

I really like the T–handle swings when done explosively. Seem to help with all the posterior chain movements.

Thats nice work, and a lot of chins.

Thanks all.

Any of you read Dan John’s 10,000 swings workout? After I did I thought ‘that doesn’t sound too hard’. So I gave it a try and it totally crushed me tonight. I couldn’t even make it though 1 round without stopping. And I didn’t even finish the second round. I’m so soft.

10/18 53 lb t-bar (52.5 + bar and handle)

10 swings
front squat 225x1
15 swings
front squat 225x2
25 swings
front squat 225x3
20-15-15 swings
dropped the front squats the rest is all swings
10,15,25,15,15,15 swings

I read about the 10,000 swings and I think it’s an awesome routine but I haven’t been able to do it yet. Right now I am doing about 200 swings average per week with 100 lbs. I think 10,000 swings a week could totally change one’s physical abilities for the better.

These were surprisingly tough. 200 swings with 100 lbs is awesome. My hamstrings, back and neck already ache. Definitely part of my workouts now. And its only (yeah only ha ha) 2000 swings a week.

GV: 10000 swings in one week!? I don’t think I read that article. Me thinks that was 4-6 weeks to get to 10K

So you are now a Swinger ! hahaha

10/21

  1. t-bar swings 53x2x20
  2. trapbar deads 135x5,225x5,315x5,405x3,495x1,455x5x5
  3. powertec squats 315x5x5

I was hoping to do some t-bar swings after powertec squats but I was spent. I was thinking about bringing my t-bar to my kids hockey practices and doing some swings in the parking lot but I think they would die of embarrassment.

They wouldn’t actually die. They would just wish they would. Nothing builds character like praying for death by embarrassment.

Ha, ha, ha. My boys are so easily embarrassed. I asked for a cup of joe at dunkin donuts one day and that was enough to set off the embarrassment alarm. I guess cup of joe is embarrassing. Who knew.
