New Hampshire Lifter II

I agree with Crippler.

Ha ha. I like the way you two think. But I haven’t seen too many kids that need to trim nose and ear hair on a regular basis.

I did some grip work tonight. Single arm farmer handle holds, block holds and pinch grip.

Nose hair is no big deal, unless it’s growing on outside top of nose. …

I need to start lifting again so I’ll stop posting stuff like this.

IGood you see you kevin. The front box squats don’t bother my knees or back. The grip toys are fun. Very humbling. Doing pinch grip with like 15 lbs.

Mac, you planning on hitting the weights again soon? Some handstand push-ups too?

  1. deadlift 135x10 225x5 315x5,6,5,6,2,2,2,2,10,10
  2. 17’’ box cambered bar squats 175x10 225x10 265x10 315x10 355x5
  3. Sit-ups x 3 sets

My goal was to deadlift 50 total reps with 315. I haven’t had a bar on my back for awhile. It felt good.

50 reps of 315 sounds like an interesting goal. How does it feel toward the end?

That’s a matter of oxygen, there is very little oxygen penetration after an inch of thickness, so after that many feet the chemical process is inhibited. I am a font of useless information.

Try a thumbless grip, as in the same side of the bar as your fingers. Alternatively, you could pull a Svend Karlsen and use a mixed grip for the clean - it’s not as hard as it seems.

What are the dimensions? That sounds like a dare…

Steve- Happy Birthday! I remember being 50…oh wait, never mind…

Crippler, it really wasn’t too bad. If I hadn’t planned on squatting afterwards I may have tried for 75 or 100 total reps.

Hardartery, pulling the axle to my stomach/lower chest isn’t too bad. It’s cleaning it from there to my neck that’s the problem. I’m not sure what I dared. Was it the 50 total reps deadlift?

Thanks Paul, it seemed to come quickly. But now I can compete in the 50+.

  1. Log clean and press: barx10 125x3 145x3 165x3 175x3 195x1 225x1 175x3 sets practicing leg drive
    2a. cgb: 135x10 185x10 225x10 275x10
    2b. small cambered bar rows: 135x10 185x10 205x10 225x10
  2. db curls: 40s x3 sets
  3. band push-ups: red band x 30

I thought you were going for a full clean. If you’re going to Continental it, lean back a little when it’s on your abs and and drive straight up with your hips, should pop right up there for you.

Next pressing workout I have axle. I’ll try to pop it up with the hip drive.

  1. 17’’ box front squats with ~150 lbs bands: barx10 bar+bands x5,5 135+bands x5 185+bands x5x5 bar+bands x3 sets high reps
  2. powertec squats+white band x 4 sets x 20-30 reps
  3. sldl 225x3x10

I was on the computer all day at work. My lower back was all cramped even before I started. So I kept away from anything that hurt.

  1. axle clean and press: 65,105,125,155 x several each , 175x1, 195x0,0,0,0 155 x several 125 x a few

  4. bb rows 135x35,15

I was able to get 195 to upper chest but couldn’t flip my wrists for the life’s of me.

You’re making want to attempt a continental clean with an axle. Are you doing continental cleans or just pulling it straight from the floor?

Aren’t you supposed to flip the wrists as it comes off the belly and you get under it?

Yes. It takes a little practice though. You have to be able to push the abs out enough to make a little shelf - which usually requires a slight back lean. But once you get it it’s like magic.

Tony, I’ve tried the continental clean and it’s not to difficult. But I have a stomach to rest the axle on. The wrist snap from the stomach to neck is what’s killing me.

Hardartery, I haven’t found the magic yet. I’ll let you know when I do.
