New Hampshire Lifter II

Awesome new stuff.

Helped to ‘spot’ guys and gals with the Circus DB at my old gym. It was just trying to keep them from crashing backwards, but you had to be on your toes anywhere near that thing…
The log was great also. You’re gonna need more cushions…

Eric, I can see when the weight starts to get up there that this thing will be all over the place. 87 lbs was manageable. And I do need to buy some weightlifting cushions.

6/24

  1. Jumps onto and into big tires x a bunch
  2. Atlas stone lifts x a bunch

I lifted the 335 lb stone like an inch off the ground. By the end of summer I hope to lap it.

You’ll get it.

I hope you’re right Mac.

6/25 grip day

  1. 1 arm db rows with circus db x 5 sets
  2. Hang from pull up bar x 3 sets
  3. Time holds x 3 sets
  4. Standing wrist/finger curls

The 2’’ handle on the db make the 1 arm rows a grip killer. Fun workout.

6/26

  1. Bench barx20 95x10 135,185,225x5 275,295,315,335,350x3
  2. Log press bar x several, 125,145,165,185,165 x a few sets each

I have so much more respect for the strongmen since I’ve started lifting stones, log press, circus db, etc. Powerlifting weights don’t carryover as much as I’d like.

  1. Farmers carries 115 each hand x up sprinting hill and around yard
  2. 5 hill sprints

I pulled the farmers handles out and walked around the yard. I was going for distance and not weight.

Animal.

Getting strong as hell, and working in some cardio at the same time.

Thanks guys. Hit the reverse band deadlifts today. I think the bands took around 80 lbs off the bottom.

6/29

  1. Reverse band deadlift 135,225,315,405,455,495,495x3
  2. Reverse band sldl 4’’ deficit 405x3x3
  3. Powertec squats with bands x 3 sets
  4. Powertec calf raises x 3 sets

Well of course you are still killing it here.

I’m sure it’s fun and challenging, a more sort of primal training.
Instead of tools designed for the human anatomy, the body has to work around the awkwardness and balance itself.

Mini, you’re right about it being fun, challenging and awkward. But I’m going to keep at it.

7/1

  1. Log clean and press barx3 125,145,165,185x3 205x0 165x2x3
  2. Circus db press empty db (77 lbs) x 5 sets
  3. Banded push ups x 3 sets

7/3

  1. 17’’ box front squats + bands barx10 135x5 185x5 225x5x3 barx20
  2. Tire flips 400x4x2 500x6x2

The bands added at least 50 lbs to each side. I’ve looked online and figure my small tire is around 400 lbs and my big on around 500-550.

7/5

  1. 2 board bench barx25 95,135,185,225x5 275,315,335,355x3 315x5,5,6
  2. Circus db press 77x5x4
  3. Carry 100 lb plate outside around the house

My left arm is so weak with the circus db press. My right arm could easily get 10 reps. My left struggles for 4 reps.

I hurt my back a couple days ago staining the deck. Nothing strenuous. I’m still not 100% but wanted to workout. So I thought a BW workout would be best.

7/9
1a. Push ups 4x25
1b. BW squats 4x25
1c. Chin ups 4x5
1d. Hip thrusts 4x25

1.7 mile walk

Hopefully better soon.
Injuries from home maintenance are no fun. I flared up my knee last week string trimming on a hill .
It had been feeling so much better prior. I think the yoga for men had really helped loosen up and add some flexibility to my hips , which reduces the stress on my knee.

You have to nurse that back. Get better.

Use a ramp to roll it up onto a box (or something) a little above waist height. Pick it from there, and do a negative a controlled as you can. Repeat a few times. Do that negative whenever you get a wild hair. You should be able to do a full pick in under a month with it.

Clee, feeling much better today. I need to start some yoga type workout at some point. My mobility is lacking.

Crippler, a little rest and some walking has my back feeling back to normal.

Hardartery, that’s a great idea. Why didn’t I think of that? I’m going to try that. Thanks.

  2. Front squat 135+band x2x10

These really hurt. I’m going to feel this tomorrow.

Most guys wouldn’t think of it. Strongman is 90% technique and 10% brute strength, that’s why it kicks so many guys so hard when they try it.
