Check how guys on youtube “throw” the bag from squat position over shoulder. Much easier than brute strength movement.
I’ll be finding out soon enough; sorry for the long winded post.
Fire pit looks terrific, your whole backyard/space in fact; really nice job ![]()
Mac, thanks! I’ll be checking that out.
Eric, you can write a novel if you like. I appreciate you swinging by.

My son kept going to 555x3. Not sure I could have pulled much heavier than 495.
Your son has a good trainer.

Carries were feeling good.
Not up on sandbag carrying. Mental block from to many trips to the desert and living in tents surrounded by them. Are you bearing hugging them or taking them up to your shoulder.? Edit: Suppose to be bear hugging.
I imagine that would give someone a mental block! I’ve been bear hugging the sandbags. Kind of works everything and makes me very tired. I need to try the shoulder carry.

Deadlift 315x3 EMOM x 30 minutes
I didn’t feel like working out or thinking. So I did 2 warmup sets and got right to 315 x a total of 90 reps in 30 minutes.

Overhand gripped all the deadlifts. Held the last rep for as long as I could. For bench I set the safety bars a couple inches above my chest and paused each reps.
Noticed a lot of people doing their deads with overhand grip. I see why your doing it here with the row-deadlift combo but other than that is there a reason for it. Less set up?
Harry, just working on my grip. And it’s hard to overtrain or hurt yourself using overhand without straps.

It supposedly is more back friendly by allowing a more neutral position throughout the lift, and some guys pull more this way comparing mixed grip with straps versus double OH with sraps. Mixed grip is really just about preventing bar roll to remove grip from being the limiting factor o a max pull anyway, and some guys never get totally comfortable. The bigger pulls you see using double overhand without straps, are likely using hook grip.
I don’t think I’ve ever used a pair of straps. Next time I DL I’ll have to borrow a pair and try them with an over hand grip.
