So on friday i went in to do chest and bi’s.
I did my regular bench warm ups with 135x6 and 185x6.
I was feeling really good. So i got 225x6 and then i hit 255x5. So i put 275 on and got it 5 times. So finally i decided i would go 3 plates to see if i could get it for 2. I ended up getting 315x3!! Im sorry, i know its not alot for most of you guys on here, but i was very excited!! It was done @246lbs and 17 years old. I was very happy. Im shooting for 5!
Congrats!!! 3 plates is an accomplishment for any one, don’t let any one tell you different. I know how you feel I just recently got 405 for two and I was so estactic I was ready to just jump up and punch someone in the face. Keep on training hard and 405 will come soon.
ps How did you get a tattoo if you were 17? Just curious.
315x3 is ALOT more than most people here bench I would say. Nice going dude. That’s pretty bloody strong!
Thats some strong pressing, not all that often you see 3 plates go up in the gym. Happens all the time online though! Nice work.

405 will come, just don’t lose the determination and drive to get there.
So since you’re 17 and benching 315 for reps I gotta ask, how do your other lifts look?
…of course not to take away from the awesome accomplishment. Nice job Mike

Thats my training log i started a few weeks ago. I havnt updated it yet ion 2 workouts due to lack of time and getting to a comp, so im gonna update it tommorow.
Your forewarned, my squat sucks!!!
Nice press!
Great pressing for your age, good deadlift and as for the squat, get a box, spend six weeks doing fives, triples and good mornings, then say hello to PRs.

Haha, no need to warm me about your squat. It happens, unfortunately many kids (myself included) start benching more in HS and then you get a little older and wiser and finally squats/deads look appealing.
The log looks solid. Nice job at the meet, thats some good stuff.
Actually we’re quite a bit similar, from age to lift #'s and all that good stuff.
Side note: I know a girl who goes to LE College for volleyball. Im at a university not too far away. It’s nice to see a fellow NE Ohioan around here, someone who can complain about the 40 degree weather in mid-April with me!

Haha. If you want just PM me where you go and your lifts etc…
Thanks on the compliments. And what a small world it is my friend. This weather, what a joke!!! We get spoiled with a 70 and then bam! 35° for the next 4 days, wtf. lol

Not a bad idea. I think im going to do that…i havnt boxed in forever. as for good mornings…on back day? or leg day?
curious, what is oyur favorite bench assistance lifts. Mine personally is the military press.

Mine are rack lockouts. They really push your triceps to the limit.
My squat and DL have gone through the roof ever since I started doing fives off the box. Still not that great, but getting there. As for GMs, probably leg day, as they hit your glutes and hams the hardest. Start light, lead with your hips and don’t be afraid to bend the legs a bit. They also make a great ME exercise, but for the most part I’d stick to the 5-8 rep range.
i swear hitting PR is better than finding money
hitting 3 wheels is probably the most memorable benchmark in your bench press career. i feel that once you hit 3 plates you pretty much seperate yourself from the averge lifter and now your on a higher level…just the beginning tho.
i cant wait for 4 to come im so impatient
