My bad.

Fishoils.

  1. Buy them
  2. Take them
  3. 69 hug Bre, then we have our way with Beast
  4. Profit[/quote]

x2 on the ice and fish oil.

Also make sure the shoulder is good and warmed up when you start back.

Masch: sounds like you have a good coach. Now be a good little girl and follow his instructions.

Thanks for the well wishes and all the great feedback on the shoulder situ. I’ve taken everyone’s advice, and am applying it:

  1. currently icing shoulder and laying off it
  2. getting ma fishoils < btw Cal what’s that other stuff you take for joints, glucosamine?
  3. reading up on how to prevent shoulder problems - Cressey article was good!
  4. Looking into some sort of shoulder strengthening program to apply in the future
  5. planning on doing my shoulder prehab and other mobility once its all better

So thank you All! Like veggie said, everyone imparted a little tidbit of wisdom

I’m also pleased to report that the shoulder is getting better and last night I lightly stretched it with some broomstick exercises. I was able to get into an OHS with the broomstick with no pain, so that’s a good sign. (btw, i’m shocked at how much better my ankle and back mobility has gotten!)

That said, I’m going to continue to lay off the shoulder for a while more and hopefully by Weds I’ll be back in the Oly gym. And yes, i WILL warm the shoulders up good.

Also I wanted to say that thanks to Germanone, who kindly alerted me to the fact that my new training program was killer on my shoulders, I’m currently tweaking the training regime. I’ll report the changes once I get them finalized! But having sustained this new injury just reminds me that I need to be really cognizant of how my training affects my body and not just think that I can do it ALL.

Officially on a Mascherano ‘do fuck all’ deload - i looked at my log and realized I have taken an official delaod since November!

Last night I hit the gym and did one of Nikki’s BBer lower body workouts. I stole it from her log (tee hee). Of course I cut some shit out…

Back Squat - 5x 80, 100, 120, 140

Hack squat - 3x12x90
Super squat (reverse of the hack squat) - 3x12x90
Leg extension - 12x 60, 65, 70, 80
leg press - 12x 150, 170, 190, 190
Hamstring curl - 12x 50, 40, 40, 40

So, aside from the leg press this is the first time I have ever used any machines. It’s funny because I think they’re made so even a monkey can use them, yet I approach them as if I’m about to get into a space shuttle. Plus, aside from the hack squat/super squat, it just doesn’t feel like a workout to me. Of course, as cute baseball player Dan commented when I said that i’m hardly working up a sweat, “you’re clearly not working hard enough.” Touchay sexy, touchay.

Verdict on da macheens: Fun! But not really my steeze.

I’m playing the rest of the week by ear re: training - so we’ll see.

Also, I just want to brag about two cool things next week:

  1. soccer officially starts! Tuesday practice and an all day soccer tourney on sat with my teams brother team (its a coed tourney). 5 40 min games. Woo hoo!

  2. OmO is going to be in the city and we’re going to train together! Hopefully she’ll teach me some more BBing stuff

Happy Friday everyone!

Yay for soccer season starting! That means its SPRING FOR EVERYONE!!! This has been the longest winter ever.

I like your shoulder program. Luckily this little problem doesn’t impact soccer at all. Awesome!

No one offered to kiss the shoulder to make it better? Well, that can be my contribution <3

Heehee
I approach machines like space shuttles too, come to think of it. Add to the fact that I’m short, I have to hop on and brace myself for lift-off; second thought, sex can also be compared to space shuttles…

Ooh I’m so jealous of your training sesh with OMO ;(

I will kiss that shoulder when I’m there! lol! And Nikki I’m so jealous of your back! Holy hell girl I love that avi.

And Masch I really appreciate all your help and training with me so I don’t get off schedule this close to the competition.

Ahh, shoulders. The most complicated joint in the body, according to my lovely orthopedic surgeon. I find it so hard to know when to push through pain and when to stop. I have a bad track record with making that decision. You’re smart to lay off. And I sure hope the layoff is a short one.

I’m glad to hear your shoulder is feeling better. Shoulder injuries are no fun and I’m really cautious with mine since I had surgery. Glad your’s are feeling better

Where do you train? Your gym looks so much better than mine(not crowded). I don’t really like my gym in Brooklyn.

For joint problems, you can buy SuperCissus. It has a lot of good feedback, I’ve just bought it my self.

Hi maschy, I dont post much but i find your log inspiring. Love the vids by the way - as with everybody else here.

I hear you about the machines, I keep away from them which is easy for the gym I go to people seem to love them so there are plenty of olympic bars around and the squat rack is always free for us to use.

take care and keep the vids and t-vixon pics coming

spook

Yeah, the supplement I take is a glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM combined - but mostly it’s for joint wear and tear (I have crepitus in a few joints. That means there’s a horrible grinding/crackling sound when I move). For reducing inflammation in soft tissues, fish oils are good and you could also look into curcurmin.

Lol about the leg press machine. I’m sorta the same way w/equipment. I have a real issue w/most leg presses, so I basically never use them.

Good luck w/your shoulder. Glad you’re being so sensible about this.

Yay for soccer season!

glad to hear that your shoulder is feeling better. hopefully it is 100% soon. i’m hearing you on the machines. started out using them (and actually i’m glad that i did) but can’t bring myself to use them now. though i’ll admit i’m eyeing up the leg press a little. not instead of squatting of course…

good news all around Maschy!!

spring is in the air

Hold the phone!!

Hey loverlies!

I’m sorry to say that I need to take a small respite from TN while I manage some of my other obligations.

Also, after a bit of soul-searching this weekend, I decided to take a month off from O lifting so that I can properly rehab my shoulder - an ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure!

I haven’t gone to see a physio, but I’m fairly certain I just have a case of tendinitis that needs to be rehabbed/prehabbed for the next month before getting back into Oly. I haven’t told Coach Joe yet - I hope he doesn’t break my balls too much (he’s old skool).

Anyways, until then I have lower body work and soccer to keep me busy - so i’m not too torn up about it. But I am sad that I’ll have yet another setback in a sport that is already incredibly challenging for me. Such is life.

Thank you ALL for the tons of feedback re: the shoulder!! Its because of you guys that I believe I’ve made (in part via terror) the smart and well-informed decision to work on my shoulder strength before I go dominating the sport of Olympic lifting

And just another BIG thank you to Germanone who has been helping me behind the scenes to put together a sound and well balanced training schedule. Thank you!!

Until then! Keep killin’ it bitches.

LWI.

I hope whatever is demanding your attention works out for the best. Take care of yourself, and we shall be here waiting for you.

Lovely pic…

Hurry back. I’m missing you already!

You are very welcome. You’ll be back and better than ever.

Aww, miss you much Masch. Get better and get back to it bitch! Hope soccer season starts well.
