Evidently my back injury is more serious than expected. I hurt myself while deadlifting last week so I took the rest of the week off. I tried lifting again yesterday, this time I heard a snapping sound. The wife took me to an indian healer (common Mexican thing)and she aligned my back. Felt some relief but pain was still there. This morning I can’t even bend down to pick up a toilet seat. So I’m off to the ER for an MRI…
Does anyone know of a good sport med doctor in the Houston area?
Bumping to get some input…
Hey man, sorry to hear about your back. I live in Deer Park and work in the surgical field all throughout Houston area. There are Many Docs I could tell you about. About what area of town would you drive to?
You should see either a Neuro Surgeon that specializes in Lumbar Spine treatment, or an Orthopedic Surgeon that specializes in the same area.
DO NOT just go see any Ortho Doc,…and a Sports Med Doc will just tell you to see someone from the above, or he’ll just TRY and treat you. I’ve worked in the operating room for almost 14 years,…I think I can help you in the right direction.
Good luck

Excellent. I live in south-east side of Houston. Near pasadena and pearland. Any help would be appreciated
Hi There
Cant help you with the doctor in the Huston, area but i have been i the position that you are in now.
Over a number of years my back problem got worse until one day, as you have done, it “went” while dead lifting.
After a bit of trial and error with which type of treatment i used i’m just about back to normal.
I found that an Osteopath gave me the best treatment with the best results in the best time. But i have also had to make changes to my training like only doing squats on a smith machine not fee bar, not doing bent over rows
ect. Along with the treatment i realy worked on my core.
It has taken some time, 9 months or so, but i can now train as hard as i ever have, i just need to train little smarter.
Best of luck with which ever treatment you choose.
