Obviously this isn’t related to weights, but I figure it fits the beginner category well enough.
Is it normal for me to get really nauseous after swimming a couple laps? I’ve never swam much in my life and tried to incorporate it into my routine recently. I don’t ever do any cardio work but running or playing other sports doesn’t make me nauseous, just swimming. Will the nausea go away if I keep swimming more and more often? What’s the physiological explanation for this happening? Thanks.
your just not use to it, You can either push yourself past it (and probably puke up) or ease yourself into it.
Out of interest are you breathing enough? Lack of oxygen while exercising can make you feel crap and breathing properly while swimming can be tricky if your not used to it.
so yeah, keep going, you will know when your going to be sick from it and need to stop, just try get into the toilets and make sure get back in the water or to running.
Drinking water can also help a lot (obviously not the swimming pool water).
Physiological explanation, don’t know one yet.
the title of the thread says running nauseates you but you later say that you can run fine.
maybe…you are sea sick. or vertigo or something. i would take dramamine anyway for the naseau until your body gets used to it
If it’s an all out sprint, yeah it’s possible to get nausea.
When I used to swim the 200IM, rest for 10 minutes and then have to compete in the 200 Fly, I used to feel like I was gunna puke so bad. But just drink some water or gatorade and the feeling will go away.
drink some water and do a warm down before your next set…
My swim team did a three week taper and started out hard and gradually down to nothing
the first two days were fcking hard, u just have to push yourself through it, also if youre just starting, it goes away…
