The one on the top in this photo is the 2.0, while the bottom one is the original, if that helps.

The original, by all accounts, was awful, but I’ve found the 2.0 really solid, especially compared to the NewYorkBarbells version.

Yep - we have the original. The top looks exactly like the Elite one

You’re pretty fuckin big already dude. Hopefully my first comment didn’t come across as negative, because for reference I’m your height and 200ish, putting my LBM somewhere in the high 170s, meaning yours, even by my conservative estimate, is like 30-40 pounds over mine. I’m not imposing looking, but I’m not small, and I could only dream of adding that much muscle to my frame. I think it’ll be sick to see what you look like when you cut down if this is your walking around size.

What are the biggest differences you find between SSBs? More of a quality difference, or actually different/better feel while squatting? I have a cheapo one that I really like using, but it is also the only SSB I’ve ever used. As a home gym owner, I’m always looking for my next upgrade. Since the SSB has been a pretty regular part of my training, I’d consider upgrading it if it would be worth it.

Thanks. And no your comment didn’t come across as negative. Most people who see me in person don’t believe I weigh 280 (according to my wife I am “dense” but that might refer to something else).

I have always been big. When I started lifting in high school I was the same height I was now, went from 245 fat to 215 then up to about 250 (went from 125 bench to 315 in high school with a 405 squat).

I’m in the same boat with the OG Titan SSB. I actually thought it was the 2.0 since I got it just last year, but turns out I was mistaken!

But yeah, no frame of reference to call it awful really. Curious what I’m not realizing haha.

The biggest differences I notice between the NYBB and Titan 2.0

-Angle of camber. The NYBB is straight on, while the Titan is at an angle. This changes things pretty dramatically. One of them being that you CAN’T go hands free with the NYBB one like you can with most other SSBs. If you try, the bar falls right off. Limits the ability to do Hatfield squats, and plays with the angle you approach the squat with.

-Padding. The padding on the Titan is all one unit, and it’s rugged. The NYBB is 3 separate pieces, and pretty thin.

-Ruggedness. The Titan bar is a little on the thin side compared to a barbell, but still sturdy, whereas the NYBB is quite thin (granted, I have the 1000lb model vs the 1500). I didn’t experience this with the NYBB one, but I heard the Titan 1.0 was whippy as a result.

-Titan 2.0 has removable handles, while the NYBB are fixed. The latter are also just straight metal bars with bike grips on them. Very low frills.

Both are good for working around shoulder injures, but if you’re going for the SSB experience, the 2.0 does a better job.

I picked up the 2.0 about 8-9 months ago. Punishers comparisons are accurate. I love the product think I gave 160 bucks for it at the time. There was a sale going.

Regardless if you have shoulder issues it’s great to get your squat work in. It does only have a 1500 limit though but you can always just do higher reps. :grimacing:

Do you know or anyone else reading know what that front squat thread was called? I’ve seen it referenced so many times now, I feel like I need to read it.

If I remember correctly, he just did one more than marauder, and cut the set off. he definitely had more in him.

Wow.

Never saw that NPC pics before, his physique is so… awkward.

Yeah,… that’s certainly a word to use…

I try never to say negative things about anyone brave enough to get onstage, but when you are easily beaten by competitors with superior physiques and then you claim online that you only lost because of your posing (while not sharing a single photo),… well it’s pretty disrespectful and quite honestly it’s misleading to those you’ve worked hard to convince
of your knowledge and ability.
