Nas' New Album

You’re an idiot. The day that story telling dies is the day that people stop listening to music. Oh wait.

So, what is it that you’re saying? The problem that you encounter when you stop listening is that it takes far more ignorance than realization to fill the void.

I think, in so many words what you simply said was, “yah trick yah”, but herein lies the major difference; He’s getting paid to say it.

As for the difference between he and the more introspective artists I’d like to believe it is something like “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime.”

You’re and idiot. Ask any hip hop artist and they will tell you that freestyling is one of the hardest and most respectable things you can aspire to.

Like i said in a thread before, hip-hop just changes its changed from its start to the 90s style and its changed again either adapt or die. hip-hop aint dead, nas is dead.

Soljia Boi killed hip-hop, raped and desecrated the body, burned it, and than took a shit in its ashes.

The most rediculous thing is that last year when my university got going again, we’d be prowling the frat streets for some places to go. Everywhere we went there would be 50 people synchronized dancing to Soulja Boy. That’s when I think I died the most inside, out of any other event.

its nowhere near as rediculous as going and seeing 50 people trying to beatbox and freestlye about their ak47’s, kilos of coke and mad hoes. theres nothing wrong with having some innocent fun. i never thought id see the day when people were so passionately upset about other people having a good time. talk about fun nazis.

Dude, it’s not an issue of having fun. It’s an issue of terrible fucking music that people soak up and actually enjoy listening to. I don’t tell people how to live their lives, but I do reserve the right to give the opinion of what’s a god-awful song and what isn’t.

Crank dat is, and so is Yah yah. The mere fact that people can get a (very obnoxious) dance out of a song that has the production values and beat of a recording system set up in some guy’s house who’s on welfare just baffles me. I could have recorded a song with my sphincter that sounded better.

I’m not trying to say its the greatest song ever either dude its alright, its fun to do the shit when youre drunk and just goof around. it serves a purpose though, it has an appropriate time and place, i just dont see anything that nas has done recently having a time or place in music right now.

Naming your CD “Nigger” wow, what a weak publicity stunt/way to stir up more racial shit. just go away nas.[/quote]

I would love to see whats in rotation in your iPOD, i am sure its full of “great” artists like MIMS, Soulja Boy, those wack ass Laffy Taffy dudes, Young MC and other loads of crap.

The “superman” is about cumming on a girls back when she is asleep and putting the bedsheet on her back so it hardens and sticks. “Superman that hoe”. That is what he is making for kids? The media is so stupid that he is on Regis and the blonds show, showing them the “wholesome” dance. There needs to be balance in rap, we can’t be serious all the time but recognize the trash for what it is dude.

Like he hasn’t heard that before. Hell, he should be tired of hearing it. I can only guess his real name is something close to it which makes every time he hears it feel like a slice of home.

LOL.

I have a friend who I call idiot. Anytime I call him by his real name, he tells me not to call him that because people only use his real name when they’re angry with him.

So idiot it is.

you forgot John Cena.

It’s not dead, but it’s definitely not that popular right now. Maybe that’s why there hasn’t been a real classic albums released in the last several years. Some of the greatest hip hop songs ever were “stories”.

Paul Revere
9mm Goes Bang
Nobody Move
Poor Georgie
Dance with the Devil
etc, etc

And the quintessential story: Children’s Story

I can’t even remember the last big storytelling hit. Stan, maybe?

That’s one of my problems with a lot of the newer stuff. It’s nothing more than a catchphrase put to a beat. There’s little or no creativity with lyrics and verses, just a catchy hook.

As much as I dislike “Crank Dat”, and can’t stand Soulja Boi as an artist, I remember that he’s just a kid. We all do stupid things as kids.

Besides, all he really did was make a hip hop version of “Macarena” complete with it’s own dance moves.[/quote]

OMG, thats so freaking true

I do believe Stan was it…and it was an instant hit that even had Eminem doing that song with Elton John (as strange as that is).

Anyone who says it is dead is very retarded. There are just few who can pull it off well in a song without sounding corny.

this guy has a point:

But 15-20 years ago, it was ok to sound corny. Even some of the corny stories became classics. Like Biz Markie with Just a Friend.

I think part of it is that everyone is much more serious nowadays. There’s no one like Biz just having fun and laughing at himself. I guess it’s just a different era and a different audience to cater to.

And for memories sake:

ha i cant believe i read through this all. nas ate jay up. jay even said so.
hiphop aint dead listen to some apathy some louis logic boot camp clik masta ace. industrialized hiphop is dead. and thats only cause no one is putting out albums worth the dollar its printed on. souja boy isnt hiphop if anything it belongs in the same category as nsync. it is wrongly genred as hiphop when if anything its pop or dance. and ether is not the only dis from nas on jay.

the whole album was hitting toward dissing jay aswell as proving his skills are far more superior then jay z. i love nas he is a pioneer but fell off with god son. his underground hits were ok but he has not put out anything remotly listenable since god son. second nas is not gangsta rap he is hiphop. gangsta rap is nwa, brotha lynch dojia click rbl posse celly cel, spiceone,mc eiht, suga free. bloods and crips shit like that not nas.

the reason hiphop is dead is not because of souja boy its the fans. quite frankly the fans would rather listen to souja boy then nas then jay z then kool g rap then big l. thats why hip hop is dead. real hiphop will always live on underground like it has been since it started. check out some bigl whodini eric b rakim common talib quali chino xl crooked i apathy masta ace .the radio will continue to play garbage just like it has been since the 90’s nothing we can do about that.

cliff notes.

jay emits it.
people have no idea about what real hiphop was is and always will be.

i barely skimmed through after i read “listen to some apathy”. dude stop living in the past youre over here saying hiphop isnt dead when majority of the people you listed havent released an album in like 10+ years…and one of them is dead (maybe more??)

and for the record its Kwali not quali

this dude writes “emits” instead of admits…and yall say contemporary hiphop fans are dumb, k.

If you can listen to “Crank That,” realize that was one of the most popular hip hop songs of last year, and then say that hip hop is alive then you are nuts.

I mean, if you are four and have a deep voice you can be a famous rapper and not even have somebody giving you the lyrics. Shoot, forget even the deep voice part. You can have a girl voice!

KWELI!

Dance with the Devil came out the year after. So I guess it has been 7 years.

Lupe Fiasco tells a story with a lot of his songs. Well.

Yeah, storytelling is dead alright.

[quote]Makavali wrote:

I was seriously about to edit my last post to mention he does.

I love Lupe, but he isn’t cool. He doesn’t talk about drugs, sex, and alcohol near enough.

I’m rolling on the floor laughing that this has earned millions of dollars.

(Yoooouuuu!)
Soulja boy I tell 'em
Hey I got a new dance fo you all called the soulja boy
(Yoooouuuu!)
You gotta punch then crank back three times from left to right
(Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh yeeeeaaaah!)

[Chorus: x2]
Soulja Boy Off In This Hoe
Watch me Crank It
Watch me Roll
Watch me Crank Dat Soulja Boy
Then Super Man Dat Hoe
Now, Watch me You…
(Crank Dat Soulja Boy)
Now, Watch me You…
(Crank Dat Soulja Boy)
Now, Watch me You…
(Crank Dat Soulja Boy)

(Crank Dat Soulja Boy)

[Verse 1:]

“I Got Me some Bathing Apes”

[Chorus x2]

[Verse 2:]

(Awwwwwww) (You)

[Chorus x2]
