I have a friend who has ben suffering from a severe pain in one of his deltoids. He says it runs from the top of the medial head down to where it meets bicep/brachialis. The other day while benching, he said he felt an excrutiating “tearing” sensation in that same area. Now he said it hurts to move his arm. What could this be?

I get the same thing. I think its common actually. Tell him to look into ART or do a search on this board. I always warm up my rotator cuff when doing chest/shoulders. When he feels that pain tell him to switch to machines for a bit and let it rest.
Sounds like supraspinatus.
