if your traps are dominating your body, you better lateral raise all the time to create shoulder width. i understand that some TOP PRO body builders have issues w/ trap size detracting from the look of their delts…
i will say though, it’s a problem most of us mere mortals would gladly take/have.

LOL. I think Johnnie Jackson may be the only pro who is truly at risk of that muscle group being too big for his body. After watching some of his videos, I even quit thinking mine were overdeveloped.

What I do is just squeeze the shit out of my traps before workout. I have found that ‘turns off’ my traps, for a time, so I can feel the target muscle working. Perhaps give this a try?

The problem is not that his traps are too big, its that he’s a little bitch from the waist down. Big traps FTW, even though the OP doesn’t have them and started this thread anyway.
I do not have this issue but I can give you some advice. When you are doing your lat raises just make sure to not let your arms go past parallel to the floor at the top of the movement, anything past will involve some trap. I would also start to build and focus in on your lats until to allow the rest of your back to catch up.
