Why don’t you post a vid so I can slam you then? It makes me feel important.[/quote]
kimba already found it on page 8, here it is again;
you see an importance and necessity in squatting deep, snap, because that’s what you’re required to do and you want to hold everyone else to the same standard.
the fed jason lifts in sees much below parallel as a waste of energy, because parallel is what makes or breaks the lift.
each of you can call the other’s feds stupid all day and night, but as long as you’re lifting in the feds you agree with, all it is, is finger pointing and “neener neener neener!”
personally, i dont give a shit about the rules or politics in one fed or another. Snap, I’d probably have done the same thing your coach did, if I was him. I’d also have done the same thing Jason did.
the important thing to take away from all of this is that i had some fabulous macaroni and cheese for dinner tonight. had scallions and bacon bits in it. also, i dont have to work again till monday.

Wow I really thought you were gonna be all sentimental and stuff and then you threw the mac n cheese bit on me. Sneaky. But classic Cbizz nonetheless.
totally agree Cbear. Learning from each other is cool. Respecting our difference in opinion and taste is even cooler. Long live bacon which makes all things gooder.
You’re absolutely right about the federation argument, CBear. There’s a lifting federation for everyone. USAPL works for me because I’m, well, a snob. There’s a great little chart on powerlifting watch that compares/contrasts all the rules and regs for the various federations. It’s a useful tool if you’re starting out. I’m still going to slam on people’s depth, though, because it gives me something to do, especially since I can’t squat myself for awhile.
I think Jason’s squat is an impressive one even though it may not pass in USAPL. He’s definitely at parallel. I love the super wide stance. I think M-in-MD has that down, too. Are the boys going to have you stand wide, Bear? I may have to think about widening my own stance to shorten the squat distance.
The mac and cheese bit. That’s really what it comes down to.

HAHAH! That is awesome.
I clearly don’t compete, but all this info is really interesting. Thanks, Masch is having a learning moment.

I’ll make a video of some really shallow ass squats just for you to shit on snapper, just because I like ya so much and want you to have something to do.

x2. Plus I can throw in some extra crappy deadlifting.
I don’t know why, but wide stance anything baffles my mind. I literally can’t do it.
Just watching that video kind of confuses me. I guess I’m still a “noob” though…shudders to admit that
Snapper- I love your snobbiness. kudos. I’m going to go on PLwatch now to educate myself on the different rules and regs, since I do want to try to compete sometime soon!

I remember when I was first encouraged to take my stance out beyond shoulder width. It totally fucked me up. I would inch my feet out an inch or two each when I got yelled at. Now even my “narrow stance” is a little beyond shoulder width and I don’t have the mobility to do much else. FML.
You ladies have fun squat depth snobs. I’m just going to sit back over here and laugh at y’all for going deeper than necessary and only wearing one layer of poly.

See? You’re a snob, too, Buckeye Girl, just in your own way. Multi-ply, eh? Bet that’s wild fun getting into.
i’ll catch up to the comments later, but i have to say i have one of the AWESOMEST farmers sunburns ive ever had. pics in the morning if i remember.
squatted saturday, WITHOUT MY CAMERAMAN, because he apparently decided to take someone else up on an invitation to squat at another gym. so, with no proof, i report:
i worked up to 2 sets of 165 OFF THE FOAM. thats right, bitches, i got to add THAT MUCH WEIGHT. tate said they looked lots better than last week, and a couple of the other guys looked after me and made sure i didnt let my form go to shit. or maybe it was the ass.
so then i did some GHR’s, which also got some help, because i was usin too much of my lower back and not enough G, and ended up doing 19 total, broken up into several sets.
some standing cable crunches, and i was outta there!
played outside all weekend. it was nice and sunny and beautiful. there were 200 water balloons, 8 squirt guns, and lots of laughter involved.
Sweet! Nice training. You’re so lucky to be working out with some serious peeps. I’m sure you’re improving by leaps and bounds. And, uh, big strong men are always fund to hang around.
andy- I try to stay serious about 5% of the time. Being serious too much turns people into irreversible assholes. I’d rather be an assclown, and happy, with all the potential in the world to settle down and be a grownup than EVER take anything, including myself, too seriously.
MIM- perciate the coffee. as always!
snap- tempted to get u a play steeringwheel, because i dont know the comparable object to armchair depth judge as backseat driver. You have a good head on your shoulders and may call depth at will. The boys haven’t told me to widen my stance (yet. they still might), they havent said anything about it, but i’ve noticed on my own that it’s edging out, because I could push my knees out a lil easier. and no, i’m not a PTA. applying for that school was an option i chose not to take this year, hoping another, better opportunity that came up works out. i have almost everything done to go back next year if i want to.
mel- whats confusing? none of us would mind helping out if you let us know where you’re lost.
bg- bring your face a lil closer and it will be even more awesome.
masch- the large men frequently in and out of pants/briefs/squat suits is a huge drawback to lifting there. i mean, who wants to see huge, powerful, sweaty men in their underpants? it’s just a small piece of cloth separating all that power from…
