You think they ignored because of his appearance or simply because they didnt want to deal with any customers period?
little bit of both, matty. they find men like you, pegg, and wendler scary, and know that i don’t, so they’ll ask me to wait on “those” kinds of customers if they have the option to. also, they dont like waiting on customers/patients if it can be avoided. seriously, they’ll all wait and ignore a customer if they can. One of my pharmacists will even pic up the phone and pretend to dial to get out of it.

so much.
oh and thanks for laying my squat all out there like that. shit, son. make me sound like i dont know what the hell im doing.
ok, you’re right, i don’t. so, thanks for laying it all out there. and you were right about all the stuff i have (mirrors) and have not (box squat consistently) done since ive been training.
snap- good to see you around, i’ll go check your log to see how things went. before i do, though, i have to tell you that i like the chuck on the shoulder. made me feel kinda awesome(er).

Usually, powerlifters squat deeper than the average gym-goer because they have to clearly break the parallel plane in order for it to be a legal lift. There are, of course, no mirrors on the platform. But I have never looked in the mirror to squat anyway. Brute, PMPM, and I all compete in the same federation (USAPL), and you’ll notice from vids that we all squat deep.
Ah, thank you! Makes sense. But the average gym-goer should still try to make parallel, yes? Otherwise doing squats is pointless or you don’t get the full benefit of them?

dunno if snap has gotten back to you yet or not, bc of my log delay.
parallel or below, yes. i wouldnt say it’s pointless, but it’d be like having a ferrari and never going above 35… you have these huge, potentially powerful muscles in your lower body that when developed, will not only make you stronger, faster, and shapely, they’ll burn fat like a mofo and let u eat dozens of pizza rolls and gallons of chocolate milk without gaining 35lbs. the lower you go, the more muscle it takes to bring your ass back up.
Video makes it hard to tell, but at the same time, its not “break it by 4 inches or its not past oparallel” like in the USAPL. Worst judging Ive ever seen is there. I dont know how you guys do it. I couldnt lift there.
Jason
Worst judging because it’s strict? Or why? I must admit, it’s all I’ve ever known in my [albeit brief] career as a powerlifter.
Yes, Greeny, I’d say you should still squat to at least parallel because . . . otherwise you’re just another gym pansy.

Well, right now I’m just a regular pansy b/c my gym at work is closed. They’re renovating the pool and you have to go through the pool to get to the gym and locker rooms. No way in HELL am I going to shower in the employee locker rooms!

Ive seen squats at the Arnold, which is the USAPLs biggest meet, that were literally 2 inches below parallel get red lighted for depth. I was standing less than 10 feet from the side judge. After about the 4th time I saw this happen, I began berating him, and the “jury” and was asked to leave the expo hall and not return. Total bullshit. Im all for performing lifts to standard, but who literally fucks lifters over, attempt after attempt. these werent missed calls, they were legitimate “youre not deep enough at 2” below" judging. Thats why I hate the USAPL. Full of uppity assholes who could give a shit about the lifter.

I’ve heard that about USAPL… However I’ve lifted in CPU which is also IPF and it’s not like that. There will obviously be one or two that you may disagree with, but generally, if it’s red lighted for depth, it’s because it was high.
If I stay in the US after I graduate maybe I’ll have to move to the darkside that is multiply lifting and/or just not USAPL muahaha.
stayed up late last night which meant sleeping in today. dont mind missing the workout because all of my bits are still sore from the other day. fuck pegg for telling me to do high volume shit.
ok its not terribly sore but enough to make me grumpy. i’ll be fine by the time i get out of work (whenever that is, im scheduled to close) and do some GPP.
more stories from work:
there are 2 things in july i need a couple days off to go do. and when i say need, i mean want. i ask for time off maybe once or twice a year, and the past couple years, i didnt ask, so much as tell them i wont be showing up.
trying things differently this time. the projected schedule doesnt make it cake for me to have the time off, so i left a big note for everyone to see saying when i wanted off, and ending with, “I’ve covered for everyone here, you’re going to help me out, right? RIGHT?!” so we’ll see what happens.

meh. ok you have a lil bit of a point. i keep telling mine whenever i dont shower before i come in. they dont believe me. they have trouble believing i dont wash my hair every day, either.
That was probably my coach who threw you out, Jason. He’s one of those uppity USAPL assholes. And boy do I ever love him. He’s told me to squat super deep on my first attempt so that the judges have it ingrained in their minds that I’m a deep squatter and don’t watch depth as closely on my second and third attempts. Quite honestly, though, I’m just a deep squatter.
