Since you caught up on my log, I’m going to respond here so you don’t have to re-catch up :slight_smile:

  • Whorey/horny - I’d be okay admitting I was a slut if I was actually getting sex. But I’m not. If I date/am going on dates with someone, fine. But lately it’s been a lot of hanging out in public places. I’m not yet desperate enough for glory holes or fucking in bar bathroom stalls.

  • The ex - He hasn’t contacted me since I last posted about it. He used to post on here so maybe he saw/stalked that I was posting again and saw what I wrote. Although if he had done that, I’d expect to see a facebook status update about something woe is me.

  • Classes - I registered for 4 of them. 2 that I listed are for the part-time program first so I’m on a waitlist already. I have 2 weeks to figure out which ones I want to drop. At that point I’ll add the part-time ones and drop the ones that I know will have room for me in the Fall should I change my mind again.

  • Cardio - I’m already in hell babycakes…or at least well on my way there. I’m also moving to a place in September that has this amazing running/biking trail right behind it. Plus one of the girls I’m moving in with apparently runs. Don’t worry, the squat rack will not forget me. Plus, I’ll probably do it for like 2 weeks, remember why I stopped, and get back to lifting lots of heavy shit.

  • Married man stammered like a little kid caught in a lie today. He tried to play the “things at home aren’t that great… you get me so much better than she does… blah blah blah” bullshit. I accepted none of it. I won’t see him til Wednesday when we have class together… and sit next to each other in assigned seats. It should be a great time. He’ll be awkward as fuck and I’ll be totally fine just ignoring him. He’s at the end of an aisle too so will literally have no one to waste time with / joke around with. I then leave right from class to go home. It better fucking be warm when I get there.

last night was one of those that didnt have any huge notable problems, went rather smoothly, just so much volume and so on my toes that it wore me out. had the weekend off and today off and im still not ready to go back tomorrow.

im glad people are sick (job security, really.) but for the regulars who have refills on stuff, lemme ask all of you to do the responsible thing- CALL YOUR REFILLS IN A DAY OR TWO IN ADVANCE. there’s nothing that drives me up a wall more, than for someone to drop off a bottle to me, and be aghast when i tell them its going to take an hour and a half. “WHAT!? its just pills in a bottle! it cant possibly take that long!” you’re right. it doesnt. but the other 60 people who got here before you, along with the 15 who just got out of surgery and are trying to go home, feel the SAME WAY. we put our phone number and your prescription number on the bottle for a fucking reason. if all you want is pills in a bottle thats fine, i can give you that. it might kill you or disable you in some way, but you’ll get to go home faster. oh, you want to wait, and have it done correctly? thought so. and for the record, the longer you keep me here, justifying my job and the system corporate makes me work with to do this for you, THE LONGER IM NOT DOING YOUR SHIT OR ANYONE ELSES.

someone asked awhile back why “prescription” is abbreviated “Rx.” it’s the abbreviation for “reciept,” the label on the bottle indicative of what’s in it and how it should be taken. used to be not on the bottle, but a slip of paper the doctor wrote out and gave to you with the bottle.

I’d often wondered about Rx - it’s not used in Britain at all.

We have the same work sched this week - I also had the weekend off, worked yesterday, and today off. I’m with you, I soooo don’t want to head back in there tomorrow. But I always feel too guilty to call in. Plus, I need to get paid.

It’s awesome that you’re getting such great training advice at efs - I’m sure your squat numbers will be back up there in no time. Jealous of the glute-ham raise you get to use.

blue- i’ve called in twice in the last 2+ years (3 years in august). both were since the beginning of the year. both were because of hangovers. i didnt tell them i was hungover, just that i was sick. theyve seen me work through being tired, sore, frustrated, stressed, everything. when i called in they thought i must’ve been dying! training at the local-

the Rx (teehee) was for lower weight, high volume hamstrings, triceps, upper back, and abs.

good mornings- 4x15, 85, 85, 105, 105

face pulls- 4x15 60, 60, 70, 70
superset with
tricep pressdowns 4x20 60, 60, 60, 70

face pulls had a pause at my face and pressdowns had a pause at bottom.

lying leg curl- 3x12 60, 55, 45, 55. ← on the 45lb set i hadnt realized that the woman who hopped in during my rest period had changed the weight. no wonder 55 felt so light!

16lb weighted situps on the flat hyper machine (one is at an angle) 2x15

hypers (on the angle machine. im such a hog) 2x15 with a 25lb plate on my chest.

now for Surge Recovery, cleaning out the fridge, and making food for the next couple days.

also, a lil bit of laundry. i swear i dont know who wears all of this shit. seems like im always doing it, but it just piles up when im not looking.

this video is nice, as it gives an idea of the baby steps involved in teaching the squat. This time, we were really working on getting Bear to learn to sit WAY back into the squat. Everything else is secondary, but if you look at some of her other squat videos, and look how much further back she is sitting, you will see what we were getting at. As time goes on, and Saturdays are spent teaching and learning, you will see her form tighten up tremendously.

Okay so here’s my newb question for Jason…

I noticed in one of the videos of you squatting and also in your avatar that you have bands that the bar is basically threading through. Is this a last resort safety mechanism in case someone dumps the bar it doesn’t hit the ground? I’m assuming this would be for a mono only. I’ve never seen one, let alone used one but I know it would make more sense with a mono where the bar isn’t walked out (you cheating multi-ply mono squatting people :P) for these bands to be there…but still, why? I feel like that was rambly, but oh well. You deal with Claire, you should be able to deal with me :slight_smile: (xoxo bear)

Court-- Those are Spud Straps that are hanging from the mono in JPegg’s avatar. They are looped over there as a safety precaution in addition to the 8 or so spotters that are not pictured but were certainly crowding around the bar during that squat attempt. You can order them off of EFS or Spud’s SC Barbell site. They’re great when you have a small crew trying to run the mono in training.

Bear-- Why were you using a pair of 3m knee wraps as wrist wraps? :stuck_out_tongue:

They’re for safety. At a lot of these big meets, you will have guys taking weights over 1100lbs in the squat. Theyre not as much for spotting, if that makes sense, as they are lifter safety, should someone get injured and not be able to control the bar, or if they miss and cannot stand up. It also saves the bar from getting bent if it hits the floor. Squat bars are EXPENSIVE ($600-$1500), and the fact that it doesnt hit the floor keeps it from getting bent. They cant be used on sissys who walk out squats, as, obviously, theres no where for the bar to hang.

As for dealing with Claire, its still a work in progress, but I would like to think Im doing okay with it at this point. You would have to ask her though. hahahahahahahaha

I figured you of all people would know that in multiply lifting, everyone does everything to excess. I once saw a kid who was about 450lbs come out rocking an inzer double denim shirt to bench 225! Gotta get after it. The strength is in the gear!
