AWESOME!!!
It’s amazing what hard work and a dream can do. Nice work, and I wish you best of luck with your new facility. Keep us updated with any more pics.

I want to be your son!
Hi CORE-dan,
Without posting my name - I popped in a week ago to see you both
Great to see a dedicated thread and I can’t wait to get down and train with you.
By the way - I raved about you guys at CORE training on another thread a few weeks ago…
oops…

Thanks for the support guys!
I’ve dug out a few more photos from the opening night and took a couple more this morning…
Photo 51: An artsy shot of the track just before people came in on the opening night.

Photo 52: The University captain gets stuck in ![]()

Photo 53: The city captain tries it out, too.

Photo 54: I stood on the back section of the gantry this morning and took a photo of the free weights area as it is currently.

Photo 55: …and whilst I was up there, I took a shot of the track, too.

Photo 56: a quick shot of the inside of the changing rooms, although this little handheld camera really doesn’t do it justice. In natural light the flooring sparkles like it has crystals in it.
There are little “personal effects” lockers for wallet, keys, cell phones etc. People take their kit bags out of the changing rooms with them and put them on the shelves next to the weights whilst they are training.

Photo 57: … here’s the showers.
Hey bluebear,
Thanks for the support mate.
I ought to point out that this name isn’t pronounced “core - dan”, but actually it’s “cor - ed -dan”
…an obscure reference, but it’ll make sense given what you know about who’s involved in the place.
wicked job with the place dude, looks great
WOW!
I dream of working out at a facility like that. I wish I lived closer ![]()
Congrats so far and best of luck in the future!

…so there ya go!
I made a transition from desk jockey, to CSCS, to the owner of a training facility, and it’s all down to T-Nation originally sparking off my interest.
My business partner now has a proper facility in which to practice the training that he is so well regarded for.
I hope that some of you enjoyed seeing the development of a place like this, and took these posts in the friendly spirit in which they were intended.
If it’s not too self-indulgent, I’ll add to this as the next few months go by - we should have some very cool clients and activities going on if early interest is anything to go by.
Thanks![/quote]
This is a fantastic thread. Best of luck!

I’m confused about the gantry. Is it just a lot of chin-up bars? Seems awfully large for that…
Very impressive.
I know how you must feel during all of this. I just opened my second gym this month (march). Although I’d trade my two gyms for your athletic facility in a heartbeat.

Thanks 4est and VorteX!
Mr TangerineSpedo:
You’re dead on - the gantry is for a whole bunch of chin-ups. (for reasons I’ll explain), but also the main “goal posts” at the front are 6m high and have eye hooks in them (as shown in this photo).
As I alluded in an earlier post, this means that we can attach ropes, olympic rings, punch-bags and anything else that takes our fancy.
The way the facility is worked is that it is split into personal training and group sessions of up to 6 people.
One side of the gantry allows up to three personal training clients to perform chins (etc.) simultaneously, whilst the other side allows the same for the group sessions.
this means up to 6 people can do chin ups at once whilst other people are climbing ropes, doing muscle-ups, iron cross etc.
why so many people doing chin-ups? Well - we consider chins to be an absolute staple of every clients workout (not just the athletes), hence everyone does them, hence the capacity.
(by the way, when I say “chins”, I’m including all variations, these can be band assisted, using weighted vests etc.)
UFPaul - wow, that’s quite a compliment, thanks!
It’s a strange mixture of emotions, isn’t it?! ![]()
Best of luck with your venture - what sort of stuff do you do?
Great thread, great facility and best of luck to you!
