My New Office

Photo 39: Some toys - sleds, med balls, hurdles, kegs.

Tractor tyres, sledgehammers, ropes and more are yet to come…

Why is this being posted in the Strength Sports forum? Am I missing something?

Well, these are not physique or performance photos per se, but related to sports training. That’s my guess.

Either way, I am enjoying the unfolding. Can’t wait to see the finished product.[/quote]

I see now that he is building a gym. The title of the thread and the first post threw me. Thanks for the response.

Photo 40: The world’s most over-engineered step-up boxes arrive.

I had asked the engineering firm to provide ‘two sets of 16,18,20 and 22" high boxes that can withstand a 120Kg bloke with 120Kg on his back’.

This is what arrived. First reaction - shock. Second reaction - Cool!

Photo 41: A specialist item of equipment survives a trip across the atlantic.

…Our rugby playing clients go wild. (more later)

Photo 42: A shot of the free weights area. This photo is taken at about 8am, and already the sunlight is streaming through the roof panels. (Remember, this is the UK, in winter.) By 11am it’s beautiful. We’re so lucky to have found this unit.

One of the weaknesses we highlighted at the planning stage was that we needed a building with a lot of volume in which to move - this meant an industrial unit, which invariably means lorries, pallattes, barbed wire, dark and dirty.

That our first female clients have been walking in and saying that “it has a great atmosphere and is sooo light” is extremely satisfying.

Photo 43: A shot to compare against photo 1 - All ready for the opening night.

This is very cool, keep 'em coming.

Edit: Where in the UK is this? I want details!

Photo 44: The official opening: The region’s two top rugby teams and an Olympic athlete perform the ribbon cutting to declare us officially open.

(I’ve removed the logo from our T-shirts in case you’re wondering!)

Photo 45: As part of the launch party, we have devised a “Town vs Gown” fitness challenge between the City and University rugby teams (who also happen to be the best in the region).

Both captains have picked a 5-man squad to represent them. Here they discuss tactics before the off…

By the way - by now the more astute of you will be able to work out who we are and where we are…

I’d ask that you keep it off the forum for now, at least until I’ve cleared it with TC. The reason I’m posting this to show that an ordinary T-Nation reader can acheive anything they set their mind too - not for advertising.

I’ll answer questions on PM if you don’t post them to the forum. I hope that doesn’t sound negative, I just don’t want to upset anyone!

cheers…

…and now back to the pictures!

Photo 46: Cheesy publicity shot #1 - The city team pose for the papers.

Photo 47: Cheesy publicity shot #2 - The University team do the same.

Photo 48: The two captains drag sleds whilst the crowd cheers on.

Photo 49: The two captains face each other off in the squatting portion of the challange.

…other parts included chins, box step-ups, keg clean and press…

Photo 50: It’s neck and neck towards the end of the race. The city club go on to take the victory by mere inches.

The place looks fuckin amazin man…

very very nice…

I’d love a gym where I could carry kegs, flip tires etc.

Well done, you should be very proud of yourself.

…so there ya go!

I made a transition from desk jockey, to CSCS, to the owner of a training facility, and it’s all down to T-Nation originally sparking off my interest.

My business partner now has a proper facility in which to practice the training that he is so well regarded for.

I hope that some of you enjoyed seeing the development of a place like this, and took these posts in the friendly spirit in which they were intended.

If it’s not too self-indulgent, I’ll add to this as the next few months go by - we should have some very cool clients and activities going on if early interest is anything to go by.

Thanks!

What the hell is it? Looks like a high priced floral shop.

Don’t post this garbage in Strength Sports forum, Mr. We’re about lifting heavy weights and we take it seriously.

Be gone and take your floral shop with you.

GREAT JOB!

The place looks awesome I only wish I could train at a facility that nice and versatile.

My question to you is…ballpark figure to get this bad boy up to the ribbon cutting?

Hey CELTIC-DEVIL.

Thanks mate - although I should point out that this has been written very much from my point of view, it’s been a team effort with my business partner.
