Hey Eco,
Thanks! Found your New log, looking real strong!
I used to do deads then squats… Dead form would break down more when I got tired and thought putting them first would reduce injuries. But Quads: they are a lagging, so time to reverse.
Tried to pull 450 warm but fresh, no go…
I stair stepped PR’s at end of year. I am now doing initial PR weight for reps until 5x5 is not a serious challenge… Trying to get the big 6 up to respectable bw ratio this year… MP’s got a long way to go, currently 1/2 bw…
I like to do my squats after my deads on the same day. Deads tighten up my lower back and the squats seem to loosen it back up. I would try the heavy double deads (405 x 2) on their own day though. Good workouts.
Interesting…
Perhaps that’s why I’m sore-er, and natural preference was Dead’s then Squats… I was figuring since Squats are lagging I should give them priority. Maybe my lower back thinks different. I will experiment…
ps, I mistyped, or don’t know how to record properly, was supposed to be 5x405… but only got 2…
Friday’s Lift, Had son (13) with me… So arranged lift for his goals…
Though for me it was a marvelous lesson in humility… Just couldn’t get anything off the ground after deads…
11 mile ride yesterday in Chapel Hill… 1 rather challenging hill… No lungs, no legs… Ugh, need more mileage. Life is conspiring against lifting this week…
Damn, sometimes I’m as Dull as a post… Just looked up kroc rows… I do rows, but seems the weight I’m using in lbs should kilo’s… Oh, and 4x the reps… Tonight’s not going to be pretty…
I’m with you on the rows. I think my weakest link is my upper back. I have a sneaky suspicion that an increase in upper back strength would benefit my bench…and well roundedness…belly aside.
Nice squats. Do you mean thinking as in what exercise, sets, reps and weight you are going to do? Or thinking as in letting the weight (doubt) get into your head?
I don’t have a problem with the 1st, as I know what I am going to do. The 2nd is my bane.
